LAST TIME OUT
Detroit (2-2) started its three-game road swing with a tough, 77-62, loss to the University of Miami on Saturday at the BankUnited Center. Three Titans scored in double-figures including senior Nick Minnerath who recorded a season-high 22 points.

Minnerath led all scorers with 22 points, including five three-pointers to lead the Titans, while Ray McCallum and Jason Calliste both netted 15 points apiece. McCallum also had five rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Titans, while Doug Anderson pulled down a team-high seven boards including five offensive.

Miami (3-1) outrebounded the Titans, 41-27, and recorded five blocked shots, but the Titans forced 14 turnovers by the Hurricanes, including seven steals. Miami shot 51.9 percent from the field, while holding Detroit to just 35.6 percent. The Hurricanes also made 17-of-19 free throw attempts, while Detroit made 9-of-14 attempts from the charity stripe. The Titans did make 11 three-pointers, while holding Miami to just five from downtown.

SERIES WITH BGSU
Detroit and Bowling Green have met 37 times with the Titans leading the all-time series 23-14. The Falcons won the meeting last year, 67-61, in the Progressive CBE Classic at the Stroh Center. Detroit's last win in the series came during the 2010-11 season when the Titans topped BGSU, 71-62, at Calihan Hall. This will be the sixth consecutive year that the two programs will play, with BGSU winning three of the last five games.

ABOUT THE FALCONS
Bowling Green (2-3) overcame an eight-point first half deficit to lead by six points at the break and the Falcons cruised in the second half to a 64-48 win over Alabama-Huntsville Tuesday in the NIT Season Tip-Off at Robert Morris University. A'uston Calhoun had 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Chauncey Orr chipped in a career-high 11 points as the Falcons led by double-digits for most of the final 20 minutes. BGSU outrebounded UAH 37-23 and had just seven turnovers for the game, holding the Chargers to 29 percent shooting in the second half.

Both Calhoun and Jordon Crawford are averaging 16.0 points per game to lead the Falcons, who were picked to finish fifth in the East Division of the MAC. BGSU was chosen ahead of Miami, while Ohio was selected to win the division, followed by Akron, Kent State and Buffalo.

CLIMBING THE CHARTS
Detroit junior Ray McCallum currently leads the Titans in three categories this season scoring (19.5 ppg), assists (4.5 apg) and steals (2.25 spg) and is also climbing up the career record board in all three. McCallum has 1,079 points (31st), 322 assist (13th) and 120 steals (16th) in his career. The last Titan to rank among the top-10 in all three of those categories was Rashad Phillips '01. Phillips finished his spectacular career with 2,319 points (1st), 548 assists (4th) and 190 steals (2nd). McCallum needs 523 points, 19 assists and 20 steals to reach that plateau.

TITANS ON REGIONAL/NATIONAL TELEVISION
The Titans 2012-13 men's basketball television schedule recently grew with the addition of three FOX Sports Detroit broadcasts. FSD, the same station that carries the “Detroit Titan Court Report” along with Detroit Pistons, Tigers and Red Wings games, will once again partner with the Titans to strengthen one of the more impressive television packages in the Horizon League.

Those games bring the total number of regional and national televised appearances to 14, including a minimum of 10 on the ESPN family of networks and one Horizon League "Game of the Week". The three-game slate on FSD begins Dec. 15 when the Akron Zips visit Calihan Hall for a noon tip.  More than a month later, the Titans face conference rival UIC with a 6:30 p.m. match-up on Jan. 19, before hosting Loyola at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 26.

McCALLUM NAMED TO THE WOODEN AWARD PRESEASON TOP 50
Detroit junior guard Ray McCallum was recently named to the John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 list, according to a release. The list recognizes the top-returning players in all of college basketball (transfers, freshmen and medical redshirts are not eligible for the preseason list).

The Los Angeles Athletic Club compiles the list, which is chosen by a preseason poll of national college basketball media members.  Each year these 50 student-athletes who, based on last year's individual performance and team records, are the early frontrunners for college basketball's most prestigious honor (although do not have to be listed to qualify for the postseason award).

McCallum, the Horizon League preseason Player of the Year and first team selection for the second-straight season, was named the Horizon League Tournament MVP last year after he helped lead the Titans to the League crown and their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1999. McCallum led the team in scoring (15.4 ppg), assists (4.0 apg) and steals (1.6 spg) for the second-straight season.

AROUND THE WORLD WE GO
Five student-athletes on the Titans 2012-13 roster are from, or lived in, four different countries. The Big Men juniors Olumide Solanke and Ugochukwu Njoku are both from Nigeria, while fellow classmates Jason Calliste and Jermaine Lippert are from Canada and Germany, respectively. Freshman Gabriel Dos Santos, was born in New York and graduated high school in Florida, but lived in Brazil during his early childhood.

O CAPTAINS! DETROIT CAPTAINS!
Detroit Titans head men's basketball coach Ray McCallum announced that senior forward Nick Minnerath along with junior guards Jason Calliste and Ray McCallum have been selected as team captains for the 2012-13 season.

Minnerath is one of only two seniors on the team and is returning to lineup after missing a majority of the season last year due to injury. Minnerath the 2010-11 Titans co-MVP averaged 11.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game as a junior, including six 20-point games over the final two months of action. Calliste, the team's sharp-shooter, led the squad in three-pointers made (56) and three-point percentage (34.4) and finished the season starting 34 games and averaging 10.2 points per game. McCallum had a tremendous sophomore season earning a host of accolades and honors. He was named the Robert Calihan Team MVP and an All-Horizon League First Team selection - the first by a Titan since 2003 - as well as the Horizon League Championship MVP.

TITANS PICKED SECOND
The UDM men's basketball team was picked to finish second in the Horizon League preseason poll voted on by the league's coaches, sports information directors and media members. The reigning HL Tournament Champions totaled 332 points – including four first-place votes – trailing only Valparaiso's 382 points and 40 first-place selections. Green Bay was picked to finish third with 283 points, while Youngstown State was fourth with 243 and Cleveland State fifth tallying 230. Rounding out the poll was Milwaukee (178), Loyola (105), UIC (96) and Wright State (86).
