AVON, Ind. -- Freshman Lucas Kim (Toronto, ON/Silverthorn) shot an even par 72 and nearly forced a playoff settling for second place as the Titans earned a top-five finish as the Butler Spring Invitational wrapped up on Tuesday.

Detroit followed its 306 on Monday with another 306 for a 612 total, tying for fifth with Loyola. IUPUI won the event with a 595, while Dayton (598), Cleveland State (606) and Valparaiso (611) placed in the top four.

Kim played steady all day posting 14 pars and a pair of birdies en route to his even-par performance and that was almost enough to force a playoff for medalist honors with Dayton's Sean Keating. Kim was five strokes in back of Keating when the final 18 began and ended with a 143 (71, 72), just one shot off of Keating's 142 (66, 76).

The rookie ended the tournament among the leaders with 27 total pars and five birdies, while finishing third on the par 3's with a 1-under, 2.88 score. It was also his second top-10 mark of the year.

Sophomore Brendan Leonard (Cambridge, ON/St. Benedict) tied for 20th after carding a 3-over 75 on the final 18 for his first career top-20 finish. He totaled a 153 (78, 75) in the tournament and played extremely well on the par 5's with a 1-under, 4.88 average, tying for second in the 69-man field.

Junior Simon Reyers (Kingston, ON/Holy Cross) shared 34th with a 157 (77, 80), while freshman Michael Nedoszytko (Scarborough, ON/McNeil) tied for 43rd after tallying a 160 (81, 79).

Detroit will be back in action next week when the Titans take part in the NYX Hoosier Invitational. The two-day event will start on April 7 and be held at the IU Championship Golf Course in Bloomington, IN.
