DETROIT -- Looking to end a two-game losing streak, the Detroit Titans play their second of three straight at home when they host Jacksonville on Saturday at Titan Field. Game time is set for Noon.
The contest is another MAAC showdown with possible playoff implications on the line as both squads are tied for third at 5-6 overall and 2-2 in league play, with the winner owning the decisive tiebreaker for a tournament spot.
Despite the two-game slide, UDM still controls its own destiny in making the MAAC Championship with two wins in its final two conference games.
Sophomore
Joel Matthews leads the team in goals (24) and assists (15), while sophomore
Shayne Adams is second on the team with 23 goals and 26 points. UDM still leads the nation in caused turnovers forcing 11.36 per game, while junior LSM
Jordan Houtby is first in the country in that category with 2.91 per contest.
The Dolphins have lost two of their last three games, but did earn a 9-8 victory over Canisius at home last week. They have defeated VMI in MAAC play, while falling at Marist and at Siena.
Jacksonville has five players with double digit goals led by Ari Waffle's 23. Cameron Mann tops the team with 39 points on 18 goals and 21 assists, while Donovan Lang is third on the team with 15 goals and 23 points.
Jake Ziegler leads the team with 14 caused turnovers and Peter DeLuca has a team-best 38 ground balls and has posted 150 saves and a 10.34 goals against average.
The Titans are third in the MAAC in scoring at 9.82 goals per game, while Jacksonville is second at 10.18.
In last year's meeting, Detroit led 6-3 in the middle of the second and 8-6 late in the third when the Dolphins ended the game with four-straight goals for a 10-8 triumph. Adams had two goals and an assist, while seniors
Scott Harris and
John Nowicki and sophomore
Troy Dennis each tallied a goal and an assist.
As with ALL home games this year, the Titan parents will have a canned food drive and a money jar with all proceeds going to Campus Kitchen. All donations will take place by the stands throughout the game.
Tickets to the game are set at $5 per adult and $3 for children (13 years and younger) and seniors (60 years and older). Group tickets (minimum 15 ticket purchase) are also set at $3 ticket.
