Easter Matinee Has Detroit Hosting Davidson

DETROIT -- Looking to run their winning streak to a school record three straight, the Titans' women's lacrosse team will be in action on Easter as Detroit battles NLC foe Davidson. Game time is set for Noon on Sunday.

UDM has had a two-game winning streak on two other occasions coming in the inaugural 2009 season as well as during the 2010 campaign.

Detroit is coming off a weekend that saw the Titans post 40 goals in wins over Liberty (19-5) and Longwood (21-17). The 21 goals tied a school record as Detroit improved to 3-7, 2-1 in the National Lacrosse Conference.

The Titans swept the NLC weekly awards as senior Anna Eidem was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week, senior Emily Boissonneault was the Defensive Player of the Week and freshman goalie Lexie McCormick was the Newcomer of the Week.

Eidem had 14 goals last week and currently tops the team with 36 goals and 43 points. Her 36 markers tied her goal total from a year ago. She ranks fourth in the nation with 3.6 goals per game and 19th tallying 4.3 points per game.

Boissonneault is second on the team in goals (34) and points (38) and is also 12th in the country with 3.4 goals per game. She recently moved into the top 10 all time in the NCAA in caused turnovers with 137 and is 16th in the nation in that category with 1.8 per game.

Senior Corina Mahorn is third on the team with 14 goals and now has an even 100 for her career.

The Titans have 10 players in double digits in ground balls with Boissonneault leading the way with 20. McCormick has 18, while junior Zaynib Hamze has 16. Among the defenders, junior Britany Busch has six caused turnovers and 15 ground balls, while freshman Amanda Guthrie has seven caused TO's and 15 GB's.

Davidson comes into the game with a 4-7 record, 1-1 in the NLC. The Wildcats have dropped two in a row and four if its last five games. Their lone NLC victory was a 21-15 decision over Presbyterian, while they fell to Jacksonville last week, 19-14.

The Wildcats have also played nine home games so far compared to just two on the road. Six players are in double digits in scoring led by Ann Fucigna's 27 goals and 40 points. Emily Cooke has 19 goals and 22 points, while Erin Doherty and Erin Keitel are tied for third on the squad with 14 goals.

Defensively, Abigail Doelger tops the team with 15 caused turnovers and has 24 ground balls, while Diane Girling has 14 caused turnovers and a team-best 25 GB's. Jessica Melby has started all 11 games in the pipes and has posted a .416 saves percentage and a 13.51 goals against average.

Tickets to the game are set at $5 per adult and $3 for children (13 years and younger) and seniors (60 years and older). Group tickets (minimum 15 ticket purchase) are also set at $3 ticket.
