Postgame With Boissonneault & Grady

DETROIT -- Senior Emily Boissonneault (Brooklin, ON/Donald A. Wilson) tallied a game-high five goals to lead five Titan goal scorers as the Detroit women's lacrosse rallied from a halftime deficit to post a 12-9 victory over Davidson on Easter Sunday.

The win was a school record third straight for Detroit as UDM moved to 4-7, 3-1 in the National Lacrosse Conference and good for second place at the moment.

Senior Anna Eidem (Champlin, MN/Totino-Grace) had a hat trick with three goals, while sophomore Tara Grady (San Jose, CA/Pioneer) netted two. Senior Corina Mahorn (Whitby, ON/Anderson CVI) and junior Lindsey Saunders (Pasadena, MD/Northeast) were the other scorers as each had a goal and an assist on the day.

Davidson (4-8, 1-2 NLC) scored the final three goals of the first half to take a 7-5 lead at the break, but the Titans responded with four straight after the intermission to take a lead it would never give back.

Mahorn started the rally with an unassisted marker nearly five minutes into the half. Boissonneault then had back-to-back goals before freshman Tessa Keuler (Oregon City, OR/Oregon City) found Eidem on the side of the cage and the senior did the rest to put the red, white and blue up, 9-7, with 13:03 left.

Detroit saw its lead trimmed to just one about a minute later, but Eidem took advantage of a Wildcats' foul to post a free position goal and Grady's second marker had the Titans out in front by three, 11-8, with seven minutes remaining. Boissonneault would add a goal late to help secure the Titan victory.

UDM outshot Davidson, 34-28, and did a great job clearing the ball with a 17-of-18 performance. The Titans also dominated draw controls to the tune of a 17-6 advantage, while causing 10 Davidson turnovers.

Saunders and Grady each had a game-high five ground balls and Mahorn pulled down a game-best five draw controls. Boissonneault added four draw controls and a game-high three caused turnovers, while freshman goalie Lexie McCormick (Peterborough, ON/St. Peters) made a season-high 13 saves.

The Titans got on the board first as the high-scoring senior duo of Boissonneault and Eidem had one apiece in the opening minutes. Detroit and Davidson then traded goals as Grady took a pass from Saunders for her first tally and Boissonneault had an unassisted marker at 15:56 to give UDM a 4-2 lead.

Davidson tied it at 4-all before Saunders found the back of the net at the 7:50 mark. That was when the Wildcats ended the period on a 3-0 run.

Detroit will be back in action next Sunday when first place High Point visits the Motor City. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m., with Senior Day festivities taking place prior to the first draw as UDM honors its four veteran players in Boissonneault, Eidem, Mahorn and Alycsa Valentine.
