WEST O'AHU, HAWAII  (9/10/2012)
-- The University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team played in its third-straight overtime game and fell to the University of Hawaii 2-1 on Monday morning at the Waipi'o  Peninsula Soccer Stadium (WPSS). The loss concluded the Titans two-game swing in the Aloha State for the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Soccer Classic.

The game was played at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday in Hawaii, but with the six hour time difference, the start time in Michigan was at 11:00 p.m Sunday evening in the Eastern Daylight Time zone.

After a scoreless first half, Detroit (2-4-1) came out with the first goal of the game at the 50:45 mark as newcomer Haley Burtraw netted her second goal of the season. Alyssa Riley took a hard shot from inside the 18-yard box that hit the crossbar and Burtraw gathered the rebound and put it into the net giving the Titans a 1-0 lead.

A goal from Hawaii (5-1-2) in the 80th minute eventually forced the overtime period, while a goal at 91:36 ended the game and marked the second time in three games that UDM has fallen in extra time. The Titans played to a 1-1 draw against Ball State in the team's other game in Hawaii a day earlier and fell to Oakland 3-2 on Aug. 31 in Rochester Hills.

Following the tournament, three Titans were named to the All-Tournament team as Sarah Dzuris, Abby McCollum, and Kaitlyn Quarrell all received the honor.

UDM will return home to Michigan and look ahead to its next game on Thursday, Sept. 13 in Ypsilanti to face Eastern Michigan at 4:00 p.m.
