DETROIT (10/4/2013) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team will begin the fall season with a pair of exhibition games at Grand Valley State this Sunday, Oct. 6.

Head coach Laura Maness returns for her third season to lead the Titans as the program is coming off an Atlantic Sun Championship appearance.

The Titans will face Grand Valley and Lindenwood this Sunday and will also have another pair of fall exhibition matches on Oct. 20 in Ann Arbor, with one of those games against the newest women's varsity lacrosse team in the state of Michigan as the Wolverines start play in 2014. Detroit will also face Marquette.

After graduating four seniors in 2013, the Titans return 11 letter winners in 2014. Additionally, redshirt juniors Morgan Lear and Annie Mendoza will add experience to the squad, while six freshmen will look to make their mark in the upcoming campaign.

Among the returners include junior goalkeeper Lexie McCormick - the 2013 Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Year. A host of other Atlantic Sun honorees also return in Erin Campbell and Taylor Marshall (First Team), Amanda Guthrie (Second Team), and Michaela Schwartz, Kylie Birney, and Morgan Miller (Freshmen Team).
