MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (2/23/2013) --
Despite a pair of goals from juniors Shayne Adams and Alex Maini, the Detroit men's lacrosse team could not get the offense going as the Titans dropped a 9-5 contest at Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon.

Maini also added an assist and sophomore Brandon Beauregard had a goal and a helper. Senior Jordan Houtby tied his career high for the fifth time with six caused turnovers and had six ground balls, while senior A.J. Levell made 10 saves and picked up a team-high seven GB's.

The Titans (0-3) got on the board first as recently named Tewaaraton Award watch list member Adams took a pass from Maini and fired one past the goalie nearly six minutes into the game.

UDM held the lead for the next four minutes, but Robert Morris (2-1) then got into an offensive grove with five-straight goals to take a 5-1 advantage with 3:33 left in the first half. The Titans would cut into that as senior Tyler Corcoran won a faceoff and after freshman Andy Hebden's shot hit the post, Beauregard followed with his second marker of the year at the 2:34 mark.

The Colonials though would get that back scoring with 52 seconds left and taking a 6-2 lead into the break.

Detroit came out firing in the second half and after senior John Dwyer forced a turnover, Maini was able to inch the red, white and blue closer at 6-3 with 12:26 to play in the third. RMU once again regained a four-goal lead and then took an 8-3 advantage early in the fourth before Beauregard fed Adams for a goal with 7:39 remaining in the contest. The teams then traded goals in the final six minutes as Maini notched his 15th career multi-goal game.

Corcoran won 6-of-8 faceoffs on the day and had two ground balls, while redshirt freshman Damien Hicks was 3-for-5 with a GB. Dwyer and senior Jamie Hebden each ended with a caused turnover and three ground balls and junior Nick Garippa had a pair of caused TO's and GB's.

The Titans will now get ready for their home opener next Saturday, Mar. 2, when Detroit hosts Quinnipiac on Titan Field. Game time is set for 11:00 a.m., and it will be free admission to all fans all day as it is part of a doubleheader on campus with the women's basketball team facing Milwaukee at 2:00 p.m.
