DETROIT (2/8/2013) --
With fall ball and about a month of training in the books, the Detroit men's lacrosse team will open the 2013 season on Saturday as the Titans visit No. 18/29 Ohio State. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m., and will be played indoors at the Woody Hayes Athletic Complex.

There will be free live stats for this event as well as a live video feed, available for a small fee. Titan fans can follow every UDM game this season through the men's lacrosse GAMEDAY CENTRAL page located on the Titans Athletic Website that will keep fans one click away from all the action. This page will feature links for live stats (audio and video when applicable) as well as links for all the latest info while also making it easy to find the Titans on social media and to purchase photos and game tickets.

Detroit was picked to finish fourth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, garnering 28 total votes. UDM also had a pair of players earn preseason accolades as senior Jamie Hebden and junior Shayne Adams were both named Preseason All-MAAC for the second-straight season.

Detroit is 0-4 all-time in season openers and 0-4 all-time against the Buckeyes. Detroit did open up once before at Ohio State as it was the site of the Titans' first-ever game as a varsity program back on Feb. 7, 2009. Since then, the last three meetings have always been Detroit's second game and it has battled the Buckeyes close with a 4-3 setback in 2011 and falling 11-6 last year.

Last season, the Titans trailed early, but never by more than three until three markers in the last 2:35 of play gave OSU an 8-3 halftime lead. The Titans then had three-straight goals to open up the third period to get within two, 8-6, but Ohio State ended the game with three goals over the final 24 minutes of play to pick up the win. A.J. Levell made 13 saves in the game and picked up seven ground balls. Adams had a goal, while Brandon Beauregard and Tom Masterson were each credited with an assist.

Ohio State returns 29 letterwinners and seven starters from last year's squad that went 8-7, 5-1 in the ECAC for second place. Senior attacker Logan Schuss – a 2012 Third Team USILA All-American and a three-time All-ECAC honoree –is back to lead the offense after topping the team with 39 goals, 18 assists and 57 points. Greg Dutton is also back in net after posting a 6.92 goals against average and a .575 saves percentage.

This will be the fourth time in five years that Ohio State's season and home opener will have come against Detroit.

After the game, the Titans will play the second of three straight on the road as the red, white and blue heads to Navy next Friday, Feb. 15, for a 7:00 p.m., start.
