DELAND, Fla. (4/12/2013) -- Detroit moved to 2-0 in the Atlantic Sun Conference with a season-high 19 goals in a 19-9 win over the Stetson Hatters on Friday afternoon. Zaynib Hamze led the way with five goals, Erin Campbell added four, and Megan Callahan tallied three markers in the second straight win for the University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team.

Nine different Titans scored on the afternoon as Tessa Keuler netted two goals and Kylie Birney, Britany Busch, Lindsey Saunders, Michaela Schwartz, and Ally Shrader all scored once for Detroit (3-11, 2-0 Atlantic Sun) in the win over Stetson (0-13, 0-2 A-Sun).

Titan goalkeeper Lexie McCormick earned her third win of the season and 11th of her career to become the school's all-time career leader in wins from the goalkeeper position needing to make two saves on the day.

Hamze and Busch each had four ground balls and Callahan tied a Detroit single-game record with seven draw controls. With four more ground balls, Hamze will become Detroit's new career leader in the category and top Emily Boissonneault's high mark of 193.

Hamze started the scoring 55 seconds into the game that was followed by a Keuler goal and then Campbell netted her first of the day before Stetson broke its silence with a goal to make it 3-1 Detroit with 24:02 left in the opening half.

The Titan scoring continued with Campbell's second of the day that was followed by a Stetson goal to make it 4-2. Busch was up next in the scoring line and Callahan then tallied her first of the day to make it 6-2. Callahan's second came 41 seconds after her first and then scored again after a Stetson goal to give her three goals with 15:08 to play in the first and her team up 8-3. For Callahan, the three goals and three points were both career highs for the defensive midfielder.

A Hatter goal put the home team within four but five straight Titan goals closed out the first half and gave Detroit a 13-4 lead heading into the break with a 26-4 edge in shots and up 14-3 in draw controls. Birney, Saunders, Schwartz, and two goals from Hamze closed out the half as Hamze's last goal went in with one second remaining on the clock.

Stetson regrouped and came out of the locker room with a quick goal 30 seconds into play but then the Detroit scoring barrage took center stage as Hamze tallied her third off a pass from Keuler. That was followed by a goal from Campbell, Keuler, then Campbell again who was followed by a Shrader tally that gave the Titans an 18-5 lead.

The Hatters would manage four goals to close to within nine but that was as close as they would come. Hamze added her fifth and final tally with 4:19 to play to give Detroit its 19-9 victory.

UDM finished with a 40-13 overall shooting advantage and grabbed 21 ground balls to nine for Stetson forcing 14 Stetson turnovers. Detroit won 20 draw controls to nine for Stetson and was a perfect 8-8 on clear attempts.

Detroit will stay in Florida and will face Jacksonville Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
