JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (4/28/2013) -- The run for the University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team came to a close as the Titans fell in the Atlantic Sun Championship game, 22-8, to host and top-seeded Jacksonville on Sunday afternoon.

Erin Campbell had four goals to lead Detroit offensively and goalkeeper Lexie McCormick made 12 saves in net and also had a team-high seven ground balls. Senior Zaynib Hamze added two goals and an assist, while Tessa Keuler helped the offense with two goals.

Amanda Guthrie had six ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Megan Callahan and Hamze each had four draw controls.

The Titans were determined early after the opening whistle taking the first two draw controls of the game and having opportunities and controlling possession looking to top the Dolphins and advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the team's history.

Those unconverted Detroit opportunities were made good at the other end of the field by Jacksonville, who scored the first six goals of the game before head coach Laura Maness called a timeout to collect her team.

Following the timeout, the Titans took the draw control and Keuler broke the Dolphin run taking a pass from Lindsey Saunders to make it a 6-1 game with 16:56 left to play in the half.

The teams then traded the next four goals as Hamze was up first converting on a free position shot after a yellow card to Jacksonville. Keuler had the next Detroit goal tallying her second of the day and 25th of the season before Campbell started her scoring with a pair getting UDM within 9-5 with 5:34 to play in the opening stanza.

Three straight goals from Jacksonville followed but Campbell's third of the day made the score 12-6, but a late Dolphin goal with 14 seconds left on the clock gave Jacksonville a 13-6 lead heading into halftime.

In the second half, the Titans had three big saves from McCormick, including a free position shot, before Jacksonville came up with three-straight goals. Campbell then tallied her 39th goal of the season and fourth of the day to put the score at 16-7.

Five straight goals for the Dolphins would put the game out of reach before Hamze closed out the scoring for Detroit with her team leading 45th goal of the year as the Dolphins would add one more to reach the final 22-8 score.

Keuler, Hamze, and Callahan were all named to the All-Tournament team following the game. Hamze posted nine goals and two assists over the two games, while Keuler had four goals and four assists. Callahan had a three-goal game against Stetson on Friday and also had a share of the team lead with nine draw controls.

The game brings a close to the careers of four individuals who have spent four years with the Titans. Senior co-captains Zaynib Hamze and Megan Callahan and also Britany Busch and Lindsey Saunders.

Hamze finished with 45 goals and 16 assists for 61 points to lead the Titans in both categories in 2013. She was named to the All-Conference first team and was the A-Sun Offensive Player of the Year. She played in 72 career games for the Titans and totaled 95 goals and 41 assists. She is the school's all-time leader with those 41 assists and also is the all-time leader with 198 ground balls.

Callahan provided vocal leadership on and off the field and is second on the school's all-time leaderboard in career games played with 73. She posted two hat tricks this season and finished with 20 career goals, 74 ground balls, and 87 draw controls.
