DETROIT (5/9/2013) --
The “Party On” anthem for the Detroit Titans carried them to their first-ever MAAC Championship and now, UDM will continue its historic season as the red, white and blue travel to South Bend, Ind., to play #2 Notre Dame in the first round of the NCAA Championship.

The game is set for Saturday, May 11, at 5:00 p.m. (ET), on ESPNU and fans can also view online at WatchESPN. Mark Dixon (former John Hopkins midfielder) and Matt Ward (Tewaaraton trophy winner at Virginia) will have the call. Live stats of the contest will also be available on Gametracker.

For ticket information to this weekend's NCAA Championship, call the Notre Dame ticket office at (574) 631-7356 or visit UND.com/tickets. Tickets start at $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for youth and seniors.

Titan fans can follow every UDM game this season through the men's lacrosse GAMEDAY CENTRAL page located on the Titans Athletic Website that will keep fans one click away from all the action. This page will feature links for live stats (audio and video when applicable) as well as links for all the latest info while also making it easy to find the Titans on social media and to purchase photos and game tickets.

Detroit (5-9) is in the NCAA Tournament thanks to a three-game winning streak, which featured a 13-7 must-win game against Canisius just to make the MAAC Championship and that was followed by 7-6 upset of top-seeded Marist and a come-from-behind 11-10 overtime thriller in the title game over Siena.

Senior A.J. Levell made 25 saves over the weekend at the MAAC Championship – earning All-Tournament accolades - and tallied a season-high 18 in the victory over the Golden Griffins. Sophomore Mike Birney was named the MAAC's Most Outstanding Player with eight total goals in the wins over the Red Foxes and Saints, including both game winners and a career-high five in the championship contest.

Birney leads the team in goals (30) and points (38). Junior Alex Maini is second in goals (23) and points (36) and is tied for first with 13 assists, while sophomore Scott Drummond has tallied 14 goals and 12 assists.

Senior defenseman Jamie Hebden still leads the team and is second in the nation in caused turnovers at 2.57, while senior LSM Jordan Houtby is second on the team and sixth in the country with 2.29. Both players were All-Tournament at the MAAC Championship and Hebden was First Team All-MAAC, while Houtby was the Co-MAAC LSM of the Year.

UDM is just in its fifth year of lacrosse and, along with Bryant, the five years is believed to be the quickest a program has ever made the NCAA Division I lacrosse field, surpassing Butler's sixth-year entrance in 1998.

The Titans will try to do something no other MAAC squad has ever done and that is win a NCAA Tournament game as the MAAC Champions are 0-11 all-time in the postseason.

Notre Dame comes into the game at 10-4 and as the second seed in the NCAA Championship. The Fighting Irish are ranked #6/6 in the polls and were 4-2 in the BIG EAST on the season. Notre Dame had won four in a row and seven of eight, but ended the season with back-to-back losses to Syracuse in the regular-season finale and in the BIG EAST Tournament.

Matt Kavanagh leads the team in goals (25), assists (13) and points (38), while Sean Rogers is second in all three categories with 21 goals and 32 points. John Kemp has started all 14 games in net and has an 8.01 goals against average and a .537 save percentage.

The Irish are making their program record eighth-straight appearance in the NCAA Championship. They are averaging 9.93 goals per game, but allowing just 8.03.

The winner of the game will face the victor or #7 Duke-Loyola (MD) next Sunday, May 19, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. The time of that game will either be Noon or 2:30 p.m.
