DETROIT (6/26/2013) -- The 2013 schedule for the University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team will feature road games at Notre Dame and Michigan along with a trip to California to play California and San Francisco as Detroit released its 2013 slate today (Wednesday, June 26).

In all, Detroit will have seven regular season games at Titan Field and 11 on the road, including seven-straight away from the Motor City to begin the year.

Head coach Mike Lupenec is entering his 21st year at the helm of a program with 184 career coaching victories. Lupenec earned his third Horizon League Coach of the Year honor in 2012 guiding the Titans to a co-regular season championship.

After nine home games last year, UDM will start with seven straight on the road beginning on Aug. 23 at Eastern Michigan. Another in-state foe will welcome Detroit as Central Michigan dots the schedule for the sixth straight year on Aug. 25. The trek to the west coast will start on Aug. 30 at California and continue on Sept. 1 at San Francisco.

Detroit will then have three straight games under the lights. The first is at Canisius in Buffalo, N.Y., (Sept. 6) before the Titans play at Notre Dame on Sept. 8 and at Michigan on Sept. 12.

The home campaign commences on Sept. 17 against Bowling Green followed by a match with Stetson out of the Atlantic Sun Conference on Sept. 22. That day will also be a doubleheader with the UDM men's soccer team, who will host Canisius at 11:00 a.m., prior to the women's game. The three-game homestand will conclude with a match against Madonna (Sept. 24) in the Titans final tune-up before Horizon League play begins.

The league docket starts with Detroit traveling to Cleveland State (Sept. 28) and defending champion Milwaukee (Oct. 5) before a break and a non-conference home contest against Marygrove on Oct. 7.

The second soccer doubleheader of the season will take place on Oct. 12 as the women host Green Bay at 1:00 p.m., with the men facing UIC right after. Another home match follows as Wright State comes to town on Oct. 16. The first ever Horizon League match with Oakland will be on Oct. 19 in Rochester Hills, Mich.,and that will lead Detroit to Senior Day on Oct. 26 against Valparaiso.

UDM will close out the regular season at Youngstown State on Nov. 1 with a night game before the Horizon League Championship Quarterfinals begin on Nov. 5. The semifinals will be on Nov. 8 with title game set for Nov. 10 with both once again played at the home site of the regular season champion.

Detroit reached the Horizon League Semifinals for the third straight year in 2012 and will now look to make its first championship game since 2006. UDM returns its top three scorers from a year ago, including the reigning Horizon League Offensive Player of the Year in senior forward Kaitlyn Quarrell, All-Conference First Team selection in junior midfielder Alyssa Riley and Second Team forward in senior Abby McCollum.

The Titans were 9-7-1 overall and 5-2 in the Horizon League last year.
