Titans Surprise Barb Wolak

DETROIT (10/13/2014) --
The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team has a newly-remodeled locker room and the Titans honored the main contributors of the project in longtime University donors Barb and John Wolak last Thursday.

"On behalf of the Detroit women's basketball program, I would like to thank Barb and John Wolak for their considerable donations throughout the years and the opportunity to enhance our locker room," said head coach Autumn Rademacher '97

The team got together and surprised her right before the "Party in the Paint" as she was escorted to the locker room by Coach Rademacher. When she entered, the Titans were right there to thank one of their biggest fans for all of her support throughout the years.

After the surprise, each member of the team read a letter of appreciation to the Wolak family.

The locker room renovation began in the late summer and includs a new floor, leather couch and a big screen television.

"The upgrades are stunning and the new amenities have brought our team even closer together," said Coach Rademacher. "It is an area that would be very attractive for any highly touted prospective student athlete to want to spend time in so we know that we are very blessed to have such wonderful people support our program throughout all these years. In return, it will be our vow to work hard every day to produce a product that Barb and John can be proud of on and off the court and we are looking forward to having a great season in their honor."

Barb – a CAL Club member – has also served on the Titan Club Board of Directors and was the President from 1999-2001. The Wolak's have been involved in a number of projects at the University, such as the Titan Olympic Suite and Dick Vitale Court.
