College Sports Madness Release
DETROIT (11/12/2014) -- Three University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer players were selected by
CollegeSportsMadness.com to the 2014 Madness Horizon League All-Conference Team. Senior midfielder
Alyssa Riley (Whitby, Ont. / Father Leo J. Austin) and junior defender
Alyssa Lotito (Macomb, Mich. / Eisenhower) were each named to the First Team, while senior defender
Haley Burtraw (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester) was selected to the Second Team.
All three players were named to the All-Horizon League Teams last week, as Riley and Burtraw were named to the All-Conference First Team, while Lotito was Second Team All-Conference. Burtraw was recognized as the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year after helping lead the Titans to seven shutouts during the season. Burtraw, who started 18 games on the back line, also assisted on three game-winning goals.
Riley finished her career in a Detroit uniform with 50 career points, good for 11th all-time. She was selected First Team All-Conference for the third time in her career and led Detroit with six goals, four game-winning goals, 15 points and 25 shots on goal during the season. She started all 19 matches.
Lotito, a three-year starter on the back line, started all 19 games and was second on the squad with eight points. She scored Detroit's game-winning goal on a penalty kick in UDM's 1-0 victory over Oakland in a Horizon League semifinal match on Nov. 6.
The trio of Riley, Burtraw and Lotito were all selected to the 2014 All-Tournament Team following the league tournament on Nov. 8.
