DETROIT (4/5/2014) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team will welcome the Jacksonville Dolphins for an Atlantic Sun contest Sunday afternoon at Titan Field with the game set to begin at 12:00 p.m. ET. Admission is FREE for all fans.

Erin Campbell led Detroit (1-9, 0-1 Atlantic Sun) offensively with two goals and a game-high seven shots in a 14-4 loss against the Niagara Purple Eagles on Wednesday. Sophomore

Vittoria Wallace had three draw controls for Detroit against Niagara. The Purple Eagles were up 7-2 at the half and added the first three goals of the second half en route to the victory.
JacksonvilleThe Dolphins (7-5, 1-0 A-Sun) lost their last time out falling 13-2 at Stony Brook on Friday. Jacksonville captured wins in each of its last three games before that including a dominating 24-1 A-Sun victory over Kennesaw State on March 26. Also in the three-game win streak included a 19-11 road win at Winthrop on March 29 and a 13-8 home win over Wagner on March 19. Taylor McCord leads the offensive charge for Jacksonville with 21 goals and 18 assists for 39 points while Morgan Derner has 24 goals and nine assists for 33 points. Asia Moore has played in 11 of the team's 12 games in the cage making 75 saves and earning six wins.
HistoryThis will be the eighth meeting between Detroit and Jacksonville and the Dolphins have had the upper hand claiming each of the seven games. The last match-up between the two teams came in the Atlantic Sun Championship game a year ago in Jacksonville that the Dolphins won 22-8 to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
The End is Drawing NearThe Titans have five games remaining on the schedule after the Jacksonville contest including three in the Atlantic Sun. Detroit will host California in Detroit on Thursday before hitting the road again. UDM will travel to Howard for a game on April 13 and return home to host Michigan at Titan Field. The final two games of the year will see Detroit host Stetson on April 19 and then close the regular season slate at Kennesaw State on April 26. The Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament will be May 2-4 in Jacksonville, Fla. and will feature the top four teams in the conference.

Tessa Keuler has 41 assists in her Titan career tying her for the school's all-time record held by 2013 senior
Zaynib Hamze. Keuler had two goals and an assist on Sunday at Cincinnati to tie the mark and will become the new all-time leader with one more helper. Head Coach

Lexie McCormick garnered the Defensive Player of the Year award. In addition, a total of eight Titans were named to either the All-Conference First or Second Team, three players were named to the All-Conference Freshmen Team.

Morgan Miller (named to All-Conference Freshman team in 2013) and
Ally Shrader (19 games played as a freshman). Also returning will be sophomores

Morgan Lear (24 ground balls in 2012) also returns to the squad after missing all of last season with an injury and will be making her debut in the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2014.
NewcomersEight newcomers will join the Titans including graduate student
Vittoria Wallace who came to Detroit in January 2014 after transferring from Oakland University where she played club lacrosse her previous three academic years. Redshirt junior
Annie Mendoza will also be making her debut in 2014 as a Titan this year after transferring to Detroit for the 2012-13 academic year but missed the entire 2013 season due to an injury. Six freshmen in

Lauren Sharkey, and
Jaclyn Snyder will look to make their mark with the Titans in 2014. Assistant Coach Jake Marmul will also make his Titan debut in 2014 after serving in the same role with the University of Notre Dame women's lacrosse team last year.
2014 Preseason Coaches PollDetroit grabbed 28 points and was pegged to finish second behind Jacksonville and its 36 votes. Stetson was third with 25 points. Campbell, Guthrie and McCormick were picked to represent the Titans on the Preseason All-Atlantic Sun Team. Lear and Mendoza were named to the A-Sun Newcomer Watch List.
Home CookingThe Titans had just five home games in 2013 compared to 11 on the road. Detroit will look to have a home field advantage in 2014 with nine home contests including an in-state match-up with the first-year varsity program Michigan Wolverines on April 16. With nine home games for the Titans, it will be the largest home schedule Detroit has ever had in its history with the second largest in 2011 when UDM had eight home games.
State of the Atlantic Sun2014 will be the second year of women's lacrosse action in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Conference will feature six teams including Detroit, Elon, Howard, Kennesaw State, Jacksonville, and Stetson. Elon will be leaving the A-Sun for the Colonial Athletic Association in 2015 but Furman, Mercer, and Old Dominion will join the A-Sun. In 2016, the A-Sun will be nine teams strong as Central Michigan will join the league.
