Eric Macrow and sophomore
Kyle Gaines recorded top-25 efforts as the Horizon League Championship came to an end on Sunday at the Par 72, 6,814-yard El Campeon Course at the Mission Inn Resort.
Macrow carded his second-straight 4-over 76 and tied for 19th with a 236 (84-76-76). He had nine pars and three birdies in the last round and tied for the team lead on the weekend with 10 birdies.
Gaines took 24th with a 238 (71-78-89) and was on his way to a top-10 finish when he ran into some trouble late. He knocked in two birdies and six pars and tied for the team lead with 10 birdies on the weekend.
Junior
Wil Wittmann shared 28th with a 242 (86-75-81), while junior
Aaron Knutson tallied a 244 (84-80-80) for 32nd. Sophomore
Spencer Lendzion was right behind him claiming 33rd with a 247 (78-84-85).
The Titans placed seventh with a 948 total (317-309-322). Cleveland State won the championship with a 906.
Detroit had one of the youngest teams in the Horizon League this season with no seniors and just four juniors on its nine-man roster, including starting two sophomores and a freshman at the league event.
