DETROIT (8/26/2015) -- The University of Detroit Mercy Department of Athletics' Mission statement reads "Detroit Titans Athletics builds champions and leaders, develops student-athletes of high integrity, enhances campus life, and honors its rich history" and that was on full display on Tuesday as the Titans took part in Freshmen Move-In Day.
Members of the Detroit men's basketball, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse and women's golf teams joined forces with other student organizations, fraternities, sororities and faculty to help move in this year's freshmen into their dorms.
With cars lining up outside Shiple Hall, the Titans helped move in the incoming class, carrying luggage, televisions, refrigerators and just about anything that students need to survive these days.
All of those helping out also formed a welcoming line and gave parents and their new classmates a huge ovation when they arrived on campus.
The 2019 class will now go through PTV the rest of the week. PTV is a four-day orientation session and gives all the students a chance to get to know their classmates as well as other members of the UDM community.
Full classes are scheduled to begin next Monday, Aug. 31.
