Scouting the TitansDetroit opened the 2015 season with a heartbreaking 3-2 double overtime loss against Toledo after allowing two unanswered goals in the second half and the golden goal in the second extra frame. The Titans bounced back with a 2-0 shutout victory over Ohio, before falling at Michigan, 3-0.

Through the first three games of the season, opponents hold the edge in goals (6-4), shots (52-22), shots on goal (23-13) and corner kicks (19-12). However, most of the numbers are skewed from a 3-0 loss at the University of Michigan, where the Titans were outshot 33-1.

Marina Manzo has made two starts in goal for UDM and is 1-1 with a 1.33 goals against average. Manzo has faced 28 shots and made eight saves for a .800 save percentage, with one shutout.
Claudia Eustaquio has appeared in two games with one start and is 1-0 with a 2.46 goals against average. Eustaquio has faced 24 shots and made nine saves for a .692 save percentage.

Scouting the FalconsOn the opposite side of the pitch, Bowling Green opened the season with a pair of shutout victories, 4-0 against Chicago State and 3-0 over IPFW. In their most recent action, the Falcons fell 2-1 in overtime at Morehead State. BGSU is 2-0 at home and 0-1 on the road through the early portion of the fall schedule.

Bowling Green owns advantages in goals (8-2), shots (63-40), shots on goal (30-14) and corner kicks (12-7) over opponents.

Erica Hubert leads BGSU with five points on a pair of goals and an assist. Mikaela Couch has a pair of goals to her credit, followed by Alexa Cheripko with a goal and an assist. Haley Parkinson, Leah Runkle and Madison Schupbach have each scored a goal to round out the top offensive performers for the Falcons.

Lauren Cadel has started every game in goal and is 2-1 with a .75 goals against average. Cadel has one shutout and has made nine saves while facing 34 shots, with a .818 save percentage.
Detroit Picked to Finish Third in the Horizon LeagueThe Titans were selected to finish third in the Horizon League women's soccer preseason poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches. Detroit, the runner-up in the league in 2014, received 60 points overall, just three points behind second-place Oakland (63 points). The defending league champion, Valparaiso, earned nine first-place votes and was the unanimous selection to win the conference again in 2015.
Home CookingThe Titans are 26-6-2 in home games since the beginning of the 2011 season. Detroit had a 16-match unbeaten streak (15-0-1) across three years snapped late last season in a 1-0 loss to Northern Kentucky. The Titans finished the 2014 season 4-2-1 at home and are 1-1 in 2015.Â
Defensively, Detroit has recorded 16 total shutouts in its last 21 matches at Titan Field dating back to 2012.

Lupenec Enters 23rd Season as Head CoachDetroit women's soccer head coachÂ
Mike Lupenec enters his 23rd season at the helm of the program. He's the only coach in the history of the program. He reached 200 career victories last year in a 1-0 victory at home over Youngstown State and now has 204 career wins.
Lupenec has guided the Titans to five Horizon League championship games, earning the tournament title in 2004 as the squad made its only appearance in the NCAA Tournament that year. Detroit has reached the Horizon League semifinals each of the past five years under Lupenec, finishing with a .500 record or better in all five seasons. He holds a 79-53-13 record all-time in Horizon League matches.

Alyssa Lotito enters the 2015 campaign eighth all-time in assists with 15 -- all coming in the past two seasons. Lotito is two assists away from tying Titan Hall of Famer Mary Parker for seventh on the all-time career list at 17. She led the Horizon League with 11 assists in 2013 and had a team-high four assists in 2014. The 11 assists in 2013 were the most for a Detroit women's soccer player since 2004.
2014 Season RecapThe Titans reached the Horizon League Championship title game last season for the first time since 2006. Detroit earned seven shutouts during the 2014 season and allowed just 22 goals in 19 games. All five of its overtime victories came during the conference portion of the season. Riley was named to the All-Horizon League First Team along with defenderÂ
Haley Burtraw, who was also named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year. Lotito was selected to the All-Horizon League Second Team.
Up NextThe Titans hit the road for a trip to the west coast, heading to The Golden State to take on Loyola Marymount on Friday, Sept. 4, and Cal State Northridge on Sunday, Sept. 6. The games are set to begin at 10 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively. Following the road trip, Detroit returns to play Eastern Michigan on Sept. 10 at 3 p.m. from Titan Field.
