DETROIT (10/19/2016) -- The basketball season just keeps getting closer and closer and on Wednesday night, excitement was in the air as the Titans hosted Hoop Night In The D inside historic Calihan Hall.
Â
The night was filled with prizes, contests and hoops action.
Â
With the Oak Park High School and Titan Pep Band bringing in the noise all over Livernois, the night started with the men's and women's teams battling in a variety show, which included acting out your favorite movies, coach impersonations and rap battles.
Â
The women's team claimed that competition as freshman
Ashley Miller sealed the victory with her freestyle edition.
Â
Next was the three-point and "skills that kill" event with seniors
Haleigh Ristovski and
Patrick Robinson Jr. teaming up for the win in the distance shootout, while senior
Jarod Williams and junior
Brianne Cohen claimed the skills portion.
Â
After one lucky fan had a chance at $5,000 with a half-court shot, the men's and women's basketball teams took to the hardwood for a scrimmage, showcasing to the fans what they will see this season.
Â
Special thanks to the Titan spirit groups as well as the band at Oak Park High School for coming outing and keeping the fans entertained throughout the night.
Â
The men's team will open the 2016-17 season with a charity exhibition game against Wayne State next Saturday, Oct. 29. Tickets are just $2 per person and all proceeds will go to Detroit Public Schools, K-5.
Â
The women's team will have to closed scrimmages during the preseason and will officially open their season on Nov. 11 at Delaware State.Â
