Kyle Gaines posted a career low by seven shots and three other Titans carded season or career lows as the University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team ended play at the CSU Invitational on Tuesday.
The event was held at the Par-72, 7,136-yard Barrington Country Club in Aurora, Ohio.
Detroit Mercy took ninth overall with an 888 (293, 295, 300).
Gaines finished his career tournament with a 1-over 73 in the final found to earn 11th with a career-best 213 (71, 69, 73). The 213 is a career low by seven shots that he had carded three times as a Titan and is also tied for the 18th best 54-hole score in school history.
He began the tournament with a 1-under 71 and then shot a 3-under 69 in the second round.Â
Gaines tied for fourth in the field with 41 pars and also led the squad with eight birdies.Â
Freshman
Zack Tenerowicz lowered his season low in a 54-hole tournament by 25 shots sharing 26th with a 221 (72, 77, 72), which included a pair of rounds at even par. He led the team and was second among all 72 golfers with 43 pars, while draining four birdies.

Scott Sparks shared 51st with a season-best 229 (77, 75, 77) and junior
Devan Schulert tied for 55th tallying a career-low 230 (77, 74, 79).
As a team, Detroit Mercy was first knocking in 186 pars.Â
The Titans will be back in action in two weeks when they play in the Dayton Flyers Invitational from Oct. 17-18 at the NCR Country Club's South Course.Â
