Anton Wilson and sophomore
Paris Bass shared the highest honor of the night, receiving the Robert Calihan Most Valuable Player Award as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team held its annual banquet on campus Thursday in the President's Ball Room.

Dan Leach served as emcee on the night as the team gathered to be honored by some of their most dedicated fans and supporters.
Bass earned First Team All-Horizon League honors in 2016 as he led the team in scoring (18.4), rebounding (8.0), blocks (1.4) and steals (1.4), finishing in the top six in the Horizon League in all of those statistics.
Wilson became the 40th player in school history to tally 1,000 career points as he was second on the team in scoring (14.3), second in steals (1.3) and third in assists (2.2). He ended his career with 1,005 points and ranks fourth in single season 3-pointers (85) and career 3-pointers (205) as well as third in career three-point field goal percentage (41.1%). Wilson is also finished third in the Titan record books with an 86.2 free throw percentage (83-of-93) on the year and is third all-time in free throw percentage at 86.2% (150-of-174).
Junior
Chris Jenkins was the William Ebben Academic and Athletic Excellence Award winner as he owns the highest GPA on the Titan squad as a Chemistry major. He was third on the team in scoring at 12.0 points and second in rebounding at 5.7 a night. He had six 20-point efforts on the year and three double-doubles.
Senior
Carlton Brundidge and sophomore
Jaleel Hogan shared the Dave DeBusschere Most Improved Award. Both Titans saw an increased performance on the court as Brundidge – who also earned the Rashad Phillips Most Courageous Award - tallied 10.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists. He scored in double digits 17 times with three 20-point performances, including a career-high 28 in the Horizon League Championship quarterfinals victory over Youngstown State.
Hogan averaged 10.5 points and 4.2 rebounds with a pair of double-doubles. He scored in double figures in 19 games and finished second in the Horizon League in field-goal percentage (57.4%).
Freshmen
Josh McFolley and
Gerald Blackshear were both tabbed with the Norm Swanson Top Newcomer Award. McFolley earned Horizon League All-Freshman status after averaging 8.5 points, 2.3 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. Blackshear posted 4.1 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 0.5 blocks per contest, while seeing action in all 31 games.
The Frank R. Gerbig, Sr. Sportsmanship Award was given to redshirt freshman
Aaron Foster-Smith. The second-year Titan played in 30 games and averaged 3.6 points and 1.8 rebounds.
