BOCA RATON, Fla. (3/8/2016) -- Junior
Alyssa James had four hits on the day and the Titans jumped on Florida Atlantic early, but the University of Detroit Mercy softball team was unable to hold on falling in a pair of games at FAU on Tuesday evening.

The Titans lost a 10-6 decision in game two after an 8-0 setback in the first game.
Â
James went 4-for-6 on the day with a pair of RBI in game two.

After back-to-back walks in the top of the first, James was able to give Detroit a 2-0 lead with a two-run double to left center, scoring juniors
Cheyenne Willeford and
Kristen Garceau. James would later score off an error to give the red, white and blue a 3-0 lead.

FAU came back with three runs in the bottom half to tie it up, but the Titans scored a run apiece in the second and third innings taking advantage of a couple of Owls' miscues.

In the second, Garceau came home off a passed ball and in the third, senior
Jennifer Cottle scored on a wild pitch for a 5-3 lead, but FAU struck for four in the bottom of the third.

Trailing 7-5, the Titans inched closer with a run in the fourth as freshman
Jordan Manno stole third and scored on a throwing error from the catcher.

The Owls would get two runs in the bottom of the fifth and the Titan offense only had one runner on in the last three innings as they were unable to post the comeback.
Garceau scored twice in the nightcap, while Manno went 1-for-4 with a run and junior
Laura Villagrana went 1-for-3.

In game one, the home team came out swinging and plated three runs in the first and second innings before settling for an 8-0 win.

James was 2-for-2 in game one, while Cottle and Mano went 1-for-2.

The Owls, who are receiving votes in the latest NFCA poll, improved to 19-2 with the wins. Meanwhile, Detroit falls to 5-16.

The Titans will be back on the field this weekend at the Under Armour Showcase, hosted by South Florida on March 11-12. UDM will square off against Iona and UMass Lowell on Friday and Butler and New Mexico State on Saturday.
