DETROIT (4/25/16) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team celebrated and reflected on the 2015 season on Thursday, April 21 as the squad held its end of the year banquet with friends, staff and family at Red Run Golf Club in Royal Oak.
Several team awards were handed out at the banquet, as head coach
Mike Lupenec offered his thoughts on the season, the graduating class and other team accomplishments.
Senior co-captain
Alyssa Lotito earned Team MVP honors, as well as a Co-Offensive Player of the Year Award. Lotito was one of the most prominent members of the team over her four-year career and a staple of the Titan offensive set pieces. She finished the season with three goals and a team-high five assists. Lotito moved into seventh place of the all-time Detroit record book with 20 career assists. Lotito earned All-Horizon League Second Team honors for the third straight year and was one of just three defenders to earn the recognition during the 2015 season.
The Coaches Award went to two-time co-captain
Jennifer Borawski. Borawski started every game for Detroit and was second on the team with three goals – including the golden goal in double overtime against defending-champion Valparaiso on Oct. 24. Borawski finishes her career with 74 games played, including 64 starts, with 27 points on 11 goals and five assists.

Mindling started all 18 games for the Titans, scored the game-winner over UIC and led the squad with 43 shots and 22 shots on goal. Mindling will return as a senior this fall with 21 career points on eight goals and five assists in 56 career games.
