DETROIT (10-4-25) - Junior
Eva Hill posted eight saves, just missing her career-high by one, while juniors
Jada Rivera and
Leila Lanier, and sophomores
Sam Sickinger and
Amelia Streberger each recorded a shot on goal as Detroit Mercy was blanked by IU Indy, 2-0, in #HLWSOC action at Titan Field on Sunday afternoon.
IU Indy (3-8-1, 2-2 HL) took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute. Just four minutes later, Rivera had a great look at the equalizer, taking a pass inside the box and firing a shot to the low right corner, but the Jags' goalie, Sarah Bambrick, closed in and cut off the angle at point-blank range to save the shot, keeping UDM (2-10-1, 0-4-1 HL) off the board.
In the second half, the Jags struck again in the 66th minute as Hill made a diving save, but the ball deflected right to Lilly Ma, who scored, moving IU Indy up 2-0.
Senior
Abbey Lodato had a good look in the 86th minute as she broke free down the middle past the last defender, but barely missed a shot to the low left side.
Detroit Mercy remains at Titan Field for a showdown against seven-time #HLWSOC defending champion Milwaukee on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 7 pm.
