The Titans fell in a hole early as the Irish pushed seven runs across in the bottom of the first. Notre Dame added two more in the bottom of the second, before Detroit Mercy answered with a pair in the top of the third.

Three walks and a pair of singles from Villagrana and Gilbert plated two runs for the Titans, but a strikeout and a double play ended the threat in the third inning.

The Titans and Irish traded runs in the fourth and fifth innings, before Detroit Mercy added two runs in the top of the seventh to make the score 10-5.
