Wyatt Dressell both competed this past weekend at the October North American Cup, held in Milwaukee.
Wiley Dressell competed in the Division I men's sabre competition on Sunday and placed 92nd overall. Both Wiley and
Wyatt Dressell fenced in the Division II men's sabre competition on Monday with
Wiley Dressell placing 16th and
Wyatt Dressell finishing 51st for Detroit Mercy.
Wiley Dressell went 3-3 in pool play and had an indicator of +2 with 23 touches scored against 21 touches received. After a first-round bye,
Wiley Dressell, the No. 87 seed, dropped a 15-14 bout with the 42nd seeded Noah Shepanek.
In the Division II men's sabre competition on Monday, both Wiley and
Wyatt Dressell fenced for the Titans.
Wiley Dressell was 2-3 in pool play, while
Wyatt Dressell was 2-4 in pool play and both had -1 indicators.
Wiley Dressell, the No. 38 seed entering the direct elimination bouts, won over 27th-seeded Howard Chang, 15-8, and then No. 6 seed Mason Moskowitz, 15-11, to reach the round of 16.
Wiley Dressell then narrowly lost, 15-14, to Eric Lai in the round of 16 and finished 16th overall out of 72 fencers.
Detroit Mercy opens its 2018-19 men's and women's fencing seasons officially on Sunday, Dec. 2 when the Titans visit Wayne State University for the annual Istvan Danosi Open. The Titans are entering their 20th season under head coach
