Titans Finish Trip In Clermont

CLERMONT, Fla. (2/11/18) -- The University of Detroit Mercy softball team wrapped up its long weekend down in Clermont, Florida, with a game on Sunday morning.

The Titans (2-3) found themselves pitted against the Liberty Flames (5-0), a team that won a whopping 46 games last season, and showed no signs of slowing down after winning all five games they played this weekend in Clermont.

Skylar Fairchild was 3-for-4 on the day, Jordan Manno continued her hot streak going 1-for-3 and scoring a run and Sydney Pollock had a RBI on the day.

Regan Glenn would get the start on the mound for the red, white and blue in the Sunday morning match up.

After retiring all three batters in the top of the first, the Titans would get on the scoreboard courtesy of a Manno single and three passed balls that allowed her to advance all the way around the bases, giving the Titans a 1-0 lead.

Liberty would then answer in the top of the second for a 2-1 lead. That lead would not last long as Pollock would remain patient in the batter's box drawing a walk, which would score Alyssa Lang to make it a 2-2 game.

The Flames would then score in each of the final five innings to take over the game.

The red, white and blue would try to pose a late rally, loading the bases in the bottom of the seventh. Following a Courtney Gilbert single, Savvy Ferstle walk and a Kara Vitale single into left field, Lang stepped into the batter's box. She would again remain patient and walked to get a run home. That was followed by a Maddy Scarsella RBI single to left field cutting the deficit to 11-4.

ON DECK
The Titans will head down to Hammond, Louisana, next weekend, Feb. 17-18, for games against Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Omaha, Belmont and Southeastern Louisiana.
