BOULDER CITY, Nev. (3/10/2018) – The Titans were all around par on Saturday and ended with one of the best scores on the day as the University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team wrapped up the Jackrabbit Invitational on Saturday.
Detroit Mercy capped the event with a 296 as all four golfers carded scores in the 70's and finished 14th with a 911 (304-311-296). The tournament featured a couple of ranked teams on the Par 72, 7,402-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
Sophomore
Zack Tenerowicz led the team with a career-tying 221 (72-75-74) and tied for 30th overall. Senior
Eric Macrow shared 57th with a 229 (76-80-73), ending the event with a 1-over 73, while redshirt freshman
Jonathan Brillati tied for 59th with a 230 (78-76-76) as he was in the 70's in all three rounds.
The Titans will be back in action next weekend, March 18-20, as the red, white and blue compete in the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate.
Titan Scorecard
Here is a recap of the action at the Jackrabbit Invitational:
- The tournament had nationally-ranked UNLV and UCLA, both top-40 programs
- Two Titans shot 70's in all three rounds in Tenerowicz and Brillati
- Detroit Mercy was fourth as a team on the course's Par 3's with a 3.21, +10 average
- Tenerowicz led the team with 36 pars, tied for the third-most in the tournament, and was also among the leaders with a 4.17, +5 average on the Par 4's
- Brillati topped the squad with nine birdies
- It was the third time that Tenerowicz has carded a 221 as he did it at the Cleveland State Invite and the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate as a freshman
- Schulert's 231 was just one shot off his career low of 230 at the 2016 Cleveland State Invitational

"After a tough day yesterday, we really made strides today. We had a chance to post a really low team score. We need to clean up the late-round mistakes and we will be in great shape!"
