YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO (3/31/18) -- The University of Detroit Mercy Titans (8-19, 3-3 HL) finished up their series with the Youngstown State University Penguins on Saturday afternoon.
The Titans claimed games one and two of the doubleheader on Friday, and were looking for the sweep on Saturday.
On the day,
Courtney Gilbert,
Jordan Manno and
Alyssa Lang all had one hit for the Titans, and
Savvy Ferstle had two hits, but the red, white and blue were unable to get anything going offensively on a cold Saturday afternoon.
DETROIT MERCY 0 - YOUNGSTOWN STATE 8
The Penguins would come out angry after yesterday's two defeats and tack on four runs in the bottom of the first. Youngstown would then add two more runs in the bottom of the second, extending the Titans deficit to 6-0.
The Titans would load the bases in the top of the third looking to spark a rally, but were unable to capitalize and trim the 6-0 deficit.
Youngstown State (11-17, 2-4 HL) would take the final game of the series by a final score of 8-0 after tacking on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Ashley Mauser started the day on the mound for the red, white and blue, going 1.2 innings while scattering four hits, six runs (four earned), two walks and four strikeouts, bringing her strikeout total on the weekend to 23.
Liz Murphy then took over for Mauser, going two innings while surrendering two hits, two earned runs, one walk and two strikeouts.
Regan Glenn would also make an appearance in the circle, going 0.1 innings and recording an out on the only batter she faced.

The Titans will head home for a three game stint against Metro Series rival Oakland University April 3-4. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. on April 3 from Rochester, MI.
