DETROIT (8/23/2018) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse program is just about ready to report back for the 2019 season and the future looks even brighter as the Titans have announced the signings of 16 student-athletes for the upcoming season.  
 
"I think we have a tremendous group of student-athletes coming here that are hard workers, dedicated and fit in with our team culture at Detroit Mercy," said head coach Chris Kolon. "They are tremendous people that fit our brand and our coaching staff is very excited about these future Titans."
 
David Beacom * MF * 6-1 * 210-LB * Bloomington, Minn. * Kennedy

• Lettered in cross country, hockey and lacrosse
• A two-time team captain
• Earned team MVP as a sophomore, All-Conference as a sophomore and senior and Honorable Mention as a junior
• Has tallied 74 goals, 42 assists and 171 ground balls in 67 games
• Played club with Team Minnesota and was selected to the 2016 Hotbeds All Star game
• A member of the National Honors Society

 
Peyton Bixby * G * 6-0 * 220-LB * Woodbury, Minn. * East Ridge

• Earned three letters in football and five in lacrosse
• A three-time team captain for lacrosse
• Earned First Team All-Section as a junior, Second Team All-Section as a freshman and sophomore and All-Suburban East as a freshman, sophomore and junior
• Started 71 of the 79 career games he saw action in and left East Ridge as the school record holder for saves (703) and wins (48) 
• Also tallied a career 62.0 percent save percentage ending his prep career with a 67.8 mark
• His 4.1 goals against average was tops in the state in 2015 and also owns four career shutouts
• Played club with Team Minnesota for three years

• Earned multiple varsity letters in football, lacrosse and wrestling
• Two-time team captain in lacrosse and was named All-Conference as a junior and senior along with team MVP as s junior
• Tabbed All-Academic in all four years
• Played club with Momentum Lacrosse, Free Gucci Lacrosse and Thunder Squirrels, helping his team to a Cherry Bomb title in 2016

• Lettered in football and lacrosse
• Earned All-Conference as a junior and senior 
• Played club with Momentum Lacrosse, Free Gucci Lacrosse and Thunder Squirrels

 
Kelson Connors * D * 6-2 * 215-LB * Fenton, Mich. * Powers Catholic

• Played basketball, football and lacrosse in high school
• A two-time team captain
• A four-time All-State and First Team All-Conference selection
• Team MVP as a senior and was the MLive Lacrosse Player of the Year as a junior
• Holds school records for caused turnovers (57) and ground balls (127) in a season
• Totaled 391 ground balls and 145 caused turnovers as a prep
• Played club with True Lacrosse, True Lacrosse National and Juiced Cherries

 
Jake Freedlander * MF * 6-1 * 200-LB * Gibsonia, Pa. * Pine-Richland

• A four-year letter winner in lacrosse
• Selected All-American and All-Section three times and All-Conference twice
• First sophomore All-American in school history as he won 596 faceoffs in 31 games
• Also first three-time All-American at Pine-Richland
• Totaled over 800 faceoff wins in his career and holds school record for victories, face-off winning percentage and ground balls
• Played club with Low and Away

 
Cai Hadaway * MF * 5-11 * 170-LB * Lake Zurich, Ill. * Lake Zurich

• A three-year letter winner in lacrosse
• Selected North Suburban All-Conference three times
• An offensive threat, he led his team in scoring as a freshman
• Played club with 3D Colorado and True Lacrosse and was a member of the True Lacrosse National Team in 2014
• Led True Lacrosse State Team in scoring for three years and earned high praise at Jake Reed Blue Chip and Good to Great All-Star in 2015

• Earned varsity letters in basketball, tennis and lacrosse
• A team captain, he was selected a US Lacrosse All-American as a senior after leading his team in scoring 
• Also tabbed All-State as a sophomore, junior and senior and All-Area as a junior and senior
• Helped his school to back-to-back regional titles in 2017 and 2018
• Played club with GBL, True Lacrosse Michigan and 1763, helping his team win the 3D Denver Shootout Champion as he was selected MVP

 
Nick Milanowski * G * 6-3 * 210-LB * Grand Rapids, Mich. * East Grand Rapids

• Earned varsity letter in hockey, lacrosse and football
• Selected First Team All-State as a sophomore, junior and senior and was also tabbed a US Lacrosse All-American in 2017 and 2018
• Helped his team to a state championship as a junior and senior
• Made 132 saves as a senior and posted a .600 save percentage
• Played club with True Lacrosse

• A four-year letter winner in lacrosse
• Tabbed All-Conference all four years and was a Third Team All-State selection as a junior and senior
• Named the MAC Red MVP as a senior
• Set the school record with 304 points in his career

Grant Petrucci * LSM/D * 5-10 * 185-LB * Bloomfield Hills, Mich. * Country Day

• Four-year varsity letter winner in lacrosse and three-year letter winner in hockey
• A team captain for both squads
• Tabbed All-State First Team in 2017 and Second Team in 2018
• Scored 10 goals as a senior
• Helped Country Day to four regional championships

• Helped the Indians to a regional title as a senior
• Tabbed All-SEC four times, All-State as a sophomore, junior and senior and All-Region in 2018

• First Titan recruit from California 
• Twice selected All-Conference and led his team to a pair of league championships

AJ Van Voorhis * A * 5-11 * 175-LB * Columbus, Ohio * Hilliard Davidson

• A varsity letter winner in football and lacrosse and was a team captain as a senior
• Finished his prep career with 233 points on 156 goals and 77 assists along with 152 ground balls
• First Team All-Region and the Region 3 Attackman of the Year as a senior
• Also Selected Second Team All-State and First Team All-OCC and team MVP as a senior
• Second Team All-Region and All-OCC as a junior after posting 36 goals and 36 assists for 82 points and picking up 44 ground balls
• Played club with Haymakers Lacrosse and helped the team win the Ohio State Buckeye Battle in 2015, was MVP at Towson 2016 as well as an all-star at Blue Chip 225 and Gait Cup
