Women's Basketball Announces Full 2018-19 Schedule

DETROIT (9/13/2018) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball schedule is finalized for the 2018-19 season with the Horizon League office announcing the full women's basketball league slate on Thursday.

New to the 2018-19 season, the Horizon League has announced changes for the 2019 Motor City Madness tournament. The top eight teams (out of 10 league teams) qualify for the postseason tournament with the first round games being held at campus sites on March 5-6. The semifinal and championship games are to be held at Little Caesars Arena for the second-straight season on Monday, March 11 and Tuesday, March 12.

Detroit Mercy, which released its non-conference schedule last month, has 13 home regular season games overall and opens the league schedule at home just after the Christmas break, welcoming Youngstown State and Cleveland State to campus on Dec. 28 and Dec. 30, respectively.

The Titans, in their fourth season under head coach Bernard Scott, play seven of the next nine contests away from Detroit after the opening weekend of HL play. Detroit Mercy plays at Metro Series rival Oakland on Jan. 4 before traveling to IUPUI on Jan. 11 and UIC in Chicago on Jan. 13.

The red, white and blue host Green Bay and Milwaukee on Jan. 18 and Jan. 20, respectively, before spending two consecutive weekends on the road. Detroit Mercy visits Northern Kentucky and Wright State on Jan. 25 and Jan. 27, respectively, before heading to Cleveland State and YSU on Jan. 31 and Feb. 2.

Detroit Mercy closes out the regular season with five of seven games at home. Detroit Mercy hosts three-straight contests from Calihan Hall, hosting Oakland on Feb. 9, UIC on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14 and IUPUI on Feb. 16. After the final two road contests at Milwaukee (Feb. 21) and Green Bay (Feb. 23), Detroit Mercy plays in two home doubleheaders with the Titan men's basketball squad on Feb. 28 and March 2.

The Titans welcome Wright State to Detroit on Feb. 28, before hosting Northern Kentucky for Senior Day on Saturday, March 2 in the regular-season finale.

Detroit Mercy opens the 2018-19 season with an exhibition contest at home against Wayne State in the third annual City College Series. Both Titan basketball teams are set to play in a doubleheader from Calihan Hall. All proceeds from the contest will go towards Detroit Public Schools.
