DETROIT (1/19/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team returns to play Sunday afternoon from Calihan Hall, hosting Milwaukee for a 1 p.m. contest. Admission into the game is just $1 on Dollar Sunday. The Horizon League contest may also be seen live via ESPN3.com and the WatchESPN Applications.
It's the fourth Horizon League home game of the season for the Titans. Detroit Mercy is coming off a 65-40 home setback to Green Bay on Friday.

Jess Bicknell caught fire in the first half of Friday's game against Green Bay, scoring 14 first-half points and finishing with a career-best 19 overall (7-of-10 FG). She has seven double-figure scoring efforts in her first season. She is fifth among Horizon League freshmen in scoring at 8.3 points per game.
• In a 42-36 Horizon League win last Sunday, the Titans held UIC to 36 points, the lowest total for a Division I opponent in a game since Detroit Mercy allowed 34 to Loyola in a 49-34 victory on Feb. 12, 2005.

Zoey Oatis tallied her second career double-double with 16 points, 13 rebounds and six steals against the Flames. Her six steals were the most for a Titan player since Lauren Allen had six thefts against Green Bay on Dec. 31, 2010.
• As a squad, Detroit Mercy leads the Horizon League in 3-point field goal defense, holding opponents to 27.5 percent.

Jess Bicknell caught fire in the first half of Friday's game against Green Bay, scoring 14 of her career-best 19 in the opening 20 minutes, but the visiting Phoenix pulled away in the second half in a 65-40 win from Calihan Hall.
Bicknell shot 7-of-10 from the floor during the game and connected on 5-of-6 free throws for her career-high of 19. She bettered her previous mark of 18, which she scored in the Horizon League opener against Youngstown State. Senior guard
Brittney Jackson added 11 points and four assists for the Titans.
Detroit Mercy got off to a great start against Green Bay and battled throughout the first half, trailing at the halftime break, 30-25. Bicknell and Jackson combined for 21 of the 25 points in the first half. As a team, Detroit Mercy shot 42.7 percent (15-for-35) in the game, while Green Bay had the edge in rebounding (34-22).

Jess Bicknell (Saginaw, Mich.) has provided a scoring punch for Detroit Mercy in her first season, ranking third on the team and fifth among league freshmen in scoring at 8.3 points per game. She has five times led Detroit Mercy in scoring in 2018-19.
She has scored in double figures in seven of 16 games, which includes a career-high 19 (7-of-10 FG) at home against Green Bay on Jan. 18. She shot 9-of-14 against YSU and also had 15 points at Oakland on Jan. 4. She ranks first on the team in points per game in Horizon League contests at 11.4, shooting 56.1 percent (23-for-41) in five games.

The Titans have limited opponents in 3-point shooting all season and lead the Horizon League, while ranking 40th in the NCAA in 3-point field goal defense, allowing a 27.5-percent clip shooting from the outside. Detroit Mercy opponents have sank just 98-of-357 shots from beyond the arc on the season.

Scouting Milwaukee
The Panthers are 8-9 overall on the season and 3-3 in the Horizon League in 2018-19. Milwaukee is currently on a three-game win streak with victories coming over Youngstown State, Cleveland State and on the road at Oakland. The Titans earned a 79-52 triumph at Oakland on Friday. The Panthers are 3-5 on the road this season.
Milwaukee has two players who score in double figures in freshman Megan Walstad (11.7 ppg) and Jamie Reit (10.2 ppg). Walstad averages a team-best 5.5 rebounds per game, while Reit leads the squad with 35 triples. McKaela Schmelzer leads Milwaukee with 68 assists and averages 4.3 steals per game, which ranks second in the HL. Ryaen Johnson also ranks second in the conference in blocks per game (2.4). As a team, the Panthers rank first in the HL in 3-point FG percentage (33.7).
