DETROIT (10/22/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team will look to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot as the red, white and blue head to Cleveland State for a mid-week clash with the Vikings on Wednesday.
Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Cleveland State and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The Titans will need to make a run in the last three conference games to get into the postseason as they enter the match at 2-10-2 and 0-5-1 in league play, while the Vikings stand at 4-7-3, 2-3-1 in the HL making this contest an important one to rise in the standings and for tie-breaking purposes.Â
Detroit Mercy is coming off a 3-1 setback to Wright State last Saturday, while CSU fell 1-0 at IUPUI.
After Cleveland State, the Titans will have another Ohio opponent on the slate in Youngstown State on Sunday and will end the regular season at home against NKU next Saturday.

- Senior goalie Amanda Emke came off the bench in the second overtime to record her first save in her first collegiate appearance versus Green Bay and then earned her first career start against IUPUI
- Freshman goalie Cassidy Joslin has made 33 saves in her last five appearances, picking up her first collegiate win and shutout at Madonna with three stops, posting nine at Michigan State and a season-best 10 at Indiana State
- With her goal at Indiana State, sophomore Julie Ann Piechocki now has seven career goals to go with eight assists for 22 career points
- Junior Olivia Parra and sophomore Hailey Wentzloff each scored in the season opener against Northwood, the first career goal for Wentzloff
- Sophomore Emily Lorkowski and freshman Sofia Bellaire each tallied their first collegiate goal at Indiana State with Lorkowski's coming on her first-ever shot
- The Horizon League started sponsoring women's soccer in 1991 and Detroit Mercy began its program in 1993 making the Titan women's soccer the eldest in the sport HL
- The Titans are 93-74-18 all-time in conference play as Detroit Mercy won the regular-season title in 1995 and shared the title in 1996. In 2004, the team won the Horizon League Championship and qualified for the NCAA Tournament, beating Michigan in the first round, 3-2
- Overall, the Titans have reached the Horizon League championship game five times (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2014)
