HIGHLAND HEIGHTS (11/2/19) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's cross country team was able to finish strong at the Horizon League cross country championships with senior
James McCann leading the way and earning All-League honors on Saturday.
McCann was the first Titan to cross the finish line in 24:45, earning Second Team All-Horizon League honors in the process, the second time in his career that he has captured All-HL accolades. Last year, he was sixth for First-Team honors.
At his first conference championship, sophomore
Dakota Hundley was the second Titan to cross the finish line taking 23rd in a time of 25:10.
Rounding out the scoring five was junior
Thomas Mueller, claiming 39th in 25:44, senior
Scott Smith's 25:53 for 46th and freshman
Oscar Hernandez placing 61st in 26:23.
The Titans had nine runners who contributed to the team's seventh-place finish with 157 points on the Valhalla Cross Country Course on the campus of Northern Kentucky in Highland Heights, Kentucky.
The Titans will move on to prepare for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships, hosted by Wisconsin on Nov. 15.
