INDIANAPOLIS (10/20/2026) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's and women's cross country teams left upstate New York with hardware and record times, earning two Titan harriers recognition from the Horizon League.

Graduate senior Joshua Otten was tabbed the Under Armour Male Runner of the Week, while rookie Anna Kujansuu was named the Women's Freshman Runner of the Week.

Otten is the first male runner to win the award since 2018, while Kujansuu is the first freshman in school history to garner the women's weekly accolade since the league introduced it in 2021.

Otten won his second race of the season, capturing the 8k Canisius Alumni Classic in a career-tying 23:55. The run was one second shy of a school record, making him the eighth Titan to earn multiple victories in a single season and the all-time leader in 8k sub-24 and 25-minute times.

Meanwhile, Kujansuu led UDM to a runner-up finish at Canisius, breaking the school's 22-year 5k rookie record with a 17:59 third-place time. The run is also tied for the 10th-best 5k in the school record book.

The Titans are currently in training as they prepare for the Horizon League Championship, set for Oct. 31 at Youthtowne Fields in Clinton, Pennsylvania.
