Scott Sparks finished in the top 20 and sophomore
Bryce Douglas knocked in two eagles in the final round as the University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team ended the Horizon League Championships on Tuesday.
Sparks tied for 19th with a 229 (79-70-80), his second-straight season with a top-20 performance at the league event. His second round 2-under 70 was the best round he ever had at the championships and his final round included 13 pars, eight on the back nine.
Junior
Zack Tenerowicz claimed 25th with a 232 (80-77-75) as he improved each round at the event and finished with a 3-over 75 in the final round. He played his last 11 holes at 2-under with nine pars and two birdies.
Freshman
Anthony Occhiuto tied for 29th with a 236 (80-76-80) as he tallied 13 pars on the day, while Douglas shared 32nd with a 238 (84-77-77) as he eagled the par 5's on hole 10 and 14.
Overall, Detroit Mercy took eighth with a 935 (323-300-312) on the par 72, 6,868-yard El Campeon Course at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida.
