DETROIT (7/30/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team has released its 11-game non-conference schedule, which features five games played at home in historic Calihan Hall to open the 2019-20 season and also includes a stop in Las Vegas over the Thanksgiving weekend for the 2019 South Point Shootout.

The Titans open their 43rd season and fifth under head coach Bernard Scott on Nov. 5, hosting old conference foe Loyola (Ill.) at Calihan Hall in the season and home opener. Detroit Mercy then hits the road in the next four games, first traveling to nearby East Lansing for a road contest against Michigan State on Nov. 8.

Detroit Mercy heads to Butler on Nov. 13 for a game at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, before playing road games at George Mason on Nov. 16 and Western Michigan on Nov. 20. The Titans then host Akron for a Nov. 23 game in the second game of the season from Calihan Hall.

The red, white and blue play in their third Thanksgiving weekend tournament in coach Scott's five years at the helm, competing in the South Point Shootout, held in Las Vegas over Thanksgiving weekend on Nov. 29-30. Detroit Mercy is slated to meet Sacred Heart on Nov. 29 and Tennessee Tech on Nov. 30 in the first-ever meetings with the two programs.

The Titans close the non-league slate with three-straight at home during the month of December, hosting old Horizon League opponent Valparaiso for Field Trip Day on Dec. 5. Detroit Mercy welcomes Toledo to town on Dec. 14 and then closes the 11-game non-conference stretch with a Dec. 21 date with Eastern Michigan from Calihan Hall.

Five of the 11 teams Detroit Mercy meets during the non-league portion of its season reached postseason tournaments and four of those squads had better than 20 wins in 2018-19.
