DETROIT (8/14/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team concluded its preseason schedule with a 1-0 setback to Central Michigan on Wednesday at Titan Field.
The game was scoreless at the half, but CMU got on the board in the 58th minute as the Chippewas were able to knock one in the net after a couple of corner kick attempts.
Detroit Mercy had five shots in the game and four were in the second half, including some strong scoring opportunities off free kicks. The best came in the last 10 minutes as senior
Casey Couturier's header hit the crossbar and bounced out at 80:33 and sophomore
Julie Ann Piechocki's shot was just wide at 85:42.
The Titan goalies made four saves in the game.
The annual alumni game is set for Saturday at 3 p.m., and the 2019 campaign will begin next Thursday, Aug. 22, when the red, white and blue welcome Northwood at 4 p.m.Â
