INDIANAPOLIS (9/18/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team's full 2019-20 schedule is complete following the release of the Horizon League slate on Wednesday by the league office. The Titans play in 29 regular season games total, with 14 of them coming from the friendly confines of historic Calihan Hall.
The red, white and blue, under the direction of fifth-year head coach
Bernard Scott, plays five of its first seven Horizon League contests from Calihan Hall before hitting the road for seven of its next nine. The Titans close the league slate and regular-season play at home for the final two games in the 18-game Horizon League schedule.
Detroit Mercy opens Horizon League play on Saturday, Dec. 28, hosting #MetroSeries rival Oakland at 12 p.m. from Calihan Hall. Following a road trip to Chicago and Indianapolis for contests against UIC and IUPUI, respectively, the Titans host four-straight games beginning with Milwaukee and Green Bay on Thursday, Jan. 9 and Saturday, Jan. 11, respectively.
The Titans then host Cleveland State on Thursday, Jan. 16 and Wright State on Saturday, Jan. 18 the following weekend. The first-half of the league slate sees the red, white and blue heading to Wright State and Northern Kentucky on Thursday, Jan. 23 and Saturday, Jan. 25, respectively.
The second half of the Horizon League schedule has Detroit Mercy visiting nearby Oakland in Rochester on Saturday, Feb. 1. The Titans then host IUPUI and UIC on Thursday, Feb. 6 and Saturday, Feb. 8, before hitting the road for a four-game stretch. Detroit Mercy heads to Wisconsin for Valentine's Day, playing Green Bay on Friday, Feb. 14 and then Milwaukee on Sunday, Feb. 16.
The last regular-season road trip of the season has Detroit Mercy in Ohio for games against Youngstown State (Friday, Feb. 21) and Cleveland State (Sunday, Feb. 23). The Titans host Northern Kentucky on Thursday, Feb. 27 to open the final weekend of the regular season before welcoming the defending champion Raiders on Saturday, Feb. 29 for Senior Day and the home finale.
The Titans released their non-conference schedule in August, which included road games at Michigan State and Butler, as well as a Thanksgiving trip to Las Vegas for the South Point Shootout. Non-league home games include a season opener with Loyola (Ill.) on Nov. 5, Field Trip Day against Valparaiso on Thursday, Dec. 5 and Saturday doubleheaders with the Titan men's basketball team on Dec. 14 and Dec. 21.
