TEMPE, Ariz. (2/15/2020) -- The University of Detroit Mercy softball team had to deal with another pair of ranked teams as the Titans fell in both of their contests in the first day of play at Arizona State's Littlewood Classic.
Detroit Mercy dropped a 10-0 decision to #RV Boise State and 15-1 to No. 22 Arizona State.
Freshman
Reese Ruhlman led the offense with two hits in game one, including a double, while sophomore
Liz Paver also plated a hit. In the second game, sophomore
Taryn Peru was the offense and she tallied her first career homer.Â
The final two games of the tournament are set for tomorrow as the red, white and blue take on Illinois State at Noon and #10 Kentucky at 2:30 p.m.

The Titans saw the Broncos get on the board first with four runs and added another four in the second.
Ruhlman hit a two-out double to center in the second inning, but could not move any further.
In the first, Paver singled to right field to lead off the inning and Ruhlman followed with an infield single, but Paver was caught straying to far off the base after reaching second and the Titans would not score.Â
Senior
Liz Murphy struck out a pair of batters over 2 2/3 innings against the Broncos.
#22 Arizona State 15, Detroit Mercy 1
ASU got on the board with a run in the first and two in the second before an eight-run third broke the game open.
Detroit Mercy had a chance to score in the third as Paver and freshman Jordan Chapman led the frame off with walks, but the Titans could not get the key hit to push any across the plate.
In the fifth, Peru led off the inning and drilled a 2-2 pitch over the center-field wall for her first collegiate long ball.
Junior
Regan Glenn earned the start in the circle and seniorÂ
Cami Sinclair sat down a batter in one inning of action versus the Sun Devils.Â
