DETROIT (2/18/2020) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team hits the road for a Thursday afternoon non-conference game against Butler from Varsity Field in Indianapolis, Ind. The opening draw is set for 3 p.m. ET. Live statistics for the game are currently available.
It's the first of two games this week for the Titans (0-2) with the red, white and blue hosting Jacksonville on Sunday at Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac. Detroit Mercy is coming off a setback to Pac-12 foe Arizona State on Friday in the Titans' home opener.
On The Field:
- It's the fourth meeting between the Titans and Butler, with Detroit Mercy winning each of the first three games, including 17-13 last season at home.
- Junior attacker Kamryn Corraro, who scored 33 goals last season, has a team-high three goals in the first two games and nine shots on goal.
- Sophomore midfielders Elise Harder (two goals) and Taryn McManus (two goals) also have multiple goals early in 2020.
- Junior midfielder Taylor Cantelon has eight draw controls in two games to lead the Titans.
- Senior defender Tegan McManus leads the defense with three caused turnovers and has 36 CT in her Titan career.
- The Titans have been efficient shooting on cage, putting 22 of 25 shots on net (88 percent) through their first two contests, including 13 of 14 against Arizona State.
- Six Titans made their collegiate debuts in the opener at #3-Northwestern -- Marina Butler, Annie Gilbert, Heather Keery, Caitlin O'Brien, Kate Schmidt and Hannah Shrader.
- Keery made her first career start against Arizona State, while Butler and Gilbert each netted their first collegiate goals against the Sun Devils.
- Detroit Mercy is entering its second season under head coach and alum Megan Callahan '13, who is in her fourth year on the Titan women's lacrosse staff overall.
- The Titans have earned a share of the Southern Conference regular-season title in each year of women's lacrosse in the league and are 8-2 in the SoCon across two seasons.
- The red, white and blue were picked to finish in fourth place in the 2020 SoCon preseason coaches poll, voted on by the league's head coaches.
- Detroit Mercy is entering its 12th year as a women's lacrosse program overall and was the first Division I program in the state of Michigan.
Scouting Butler:
- The Bulldogs are 1-0 on the young season, topping Division III Hanover College by a 22-0 margin in their season opener on Feb. 16 at home.
- Butler is in its fourth season overall as a program and went 3-14 as a squad last season.
- Seventeen (17) different players scored in Sunday's win with sophomore attackers Lindsey Schreiber and Gabryelle Bodine each netting hat tricks for Butler.
- Junior attacker Ashley Guerra was the team's leader in goals (28), assists (17) and points (45) last season in 2019.
- Junior midfielder Elizabeth Davide had a team-best eight draw controls in the opener.
- Three different goalkeepers played in the contest with junior Amanda Rumsey (114 SV, 37.0 SV% in 2019) earning the start.
- Head coach Cecil Pilson enters his fourth season as the head coach of the program.

Sophomore
Elise Harder had a three-point game (two goals, one assist) and
Kamryn Corraro added two goals, but the Titans fell to Arizona State at home, 24-6. Freshmen attackers
Marina Butler and
Annie Gilbert each added their first collegiate goals in the game. Titan goalkeepers made 12 saves in all with
Maddie Johnson and
Hannah Shrader each tallying six saves for the Titans. Shrader also had six ground balls in the contest.

Detroit Mercy returns to the field Sunday at home, hosting former ASUNÂ foe Jacksonville in a 12:30 p.m. ET contest from Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac. The Titans then hit the road for three-straight, heading to Manhattan on Saturday, Feb. 29, before playing Winthrop on March 5 and Gardner-Webb on March 8 in South and North Carolina, respectively.
