DETROIT (2/26/2020) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team welcomes visiting Northern Kentucky to Calihan Hall on Thursday to open the final weekend of the 2019-20 regular season. The game is set for a 7 p.m. tip and may be seen live on ESPN-Plus with the Voice of the Titan women's team,
Denny Kapp, calling the action.
The Titans play NKU on Thursday before hosting Wright State on Saturday, Feb. 29 for Senior Day in Detroit. Detroit Mercy will honor its senior,
Zoey Oatis, prior to Saturday's contest with the Raiders.
On The Court:
- The Titans are locked into the No. 9 seed for the upcoming Horizon League Championship and will play the No. 4 seed, which is yet to be determined.
- Detroit Mercy is 3-7 all-time against the Norse, but holds a 2-2 mark against Northern Kentucky in games played from Calihan Hall.
- Freshman guard Sylare Starks leads all Horizon League freshmen in scoring at 10.5 points per game and ranks 13th overall in Horizon League games in scoring (10.8 ppg).
- Starks also ranks in the top-10 in the HL in 3-pointers made per game (1.8, sixth) and minutes played per game (31.0, fifth).
- Titan sophomore forward Maxine Moore is averaging 10.3 points per game across her past nine games, which includes two double-doubles in her past three contests.
- Detroit Mercy had 20 assists for the second time this season against Cleveland State on Sunday -- assisting on 20 of 26 made field goals against the Vikings.
- Freshman forward Bridgid Fox tied her career-high with 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting in Sunday's 68-63 setback at Cleveland State. It was her seventh game in double figures.
- Starks averaged 15.0 points per game, hitting eight 3-pointers and shooting 61-percent last weekend against Youngstown State and CSU.
- Three Titan freshmen have earned Horizon League Freshman of the Week honors this season -- Sylare Starks (Nov. 25), Bridgid Fox (Dec. 16) and Markyia McCormick (Dec. 23).
- Senior Zoey Oatis ranks fourth in the Horizon League in steals per game (1.6) and is one of three players to rank in the top-15 in both steals and blocks in the league.
- Oatis has amassed more than 550 points, 340 rebounds, 120 steals and 45 blocks across 95 career games in the red, white and blue for the Titans.
- Starks is tied-for-third in Titan freshmen history in 3-pointers made (48) in a single season and is just outside the top-10 in points for a freshman.
- Titan freshmen have scored 53-percent of the team's points this season and scored in double figures 35Â times as a class.
- Head coach Bernard Scott is in his fifth season at the helm of the Titans and has led them to two top-four finishes and a Horizon League championship game in 2017.

The Titans got a career-high-tying 15 points from freshman forward
Bridgid Fox and a double-double (12 points, 12 rebounds) from
Maxine Moore, but the Titans couldn't complete the road comeback at Cleveland State on Sunday in a 68-63 setback. The Titans out-scored CSU 23-13 in the fourth quarter, but came up just short. As a team, Detroit Mercy had 20 assists on 26 field goals.
Freshman
Sylare Starks added 11 points. Fox shot 7-of-9 from the floor and added two blocks. Moore's 12 rebounds were a career-high and her double-double was her second in the past three games. Both Starks and classmate
Annika Corcoran knocked down three 3-pointers. CSU held a large advantage in free throw attempts, shooting 36 times comapred to six by the Titans.
Scouting Northern Kentucky:
- The Norse head into Thursday's contest with the Titans at 16-11 overall and 10-6 in Horizon League play, sitting in fourth place in the league standings with two games to go.
- NKU is coming off a 79-69 road setback to Wright State last weekend.
- Prior to that, NKU was on a three-game win streak, which included a victory over league-leader IUPUI at home on Senior Day.
- Senior Molly Glick leads the team in scoring at 12.2 points per game, which also ranks sixth in the Horizon League. Glick is fourth in the conference in 3-pointers made per game at 2.0.
- Sophomore Ally Niece is second on the team in scoring at 11.8 ppg and leads the squad in assists with 88, which ranks third overall.
- Junior forward Kailey Coffey is among the Horizon League leaders in rebounding at 7.8 per game (fourth in HL).
