DETROIT (3/10/2020) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team opens a two-game homestand Wednesday afternoon, hosting Marquette in a 1 p.m. ET game from Titan Field. It's the first contest of the season on campus and third home game overall. The game is slated to be streamed live on ESPN-Plus. Admission for all fans is free.
Detroit Mercy (1-6) is coming off a three-game road swing over the spring break.with the red, white and blue picking up a victory last Thursday over Winthrop. The Titans are nearing the start of the Southern Conference play, opening league play on the road at Wofford (March 27) and Furman (March 29).
On The Field:
- Detroit Mercy picked up its first victory of the 2020 season in Thursday's 11-8 road win over Winthrop.
- Senior midfielder Kaitlyn Wandelt has tallied three hat tricks, 12 goals and 14 points in the past three games for the Titans.
- Junior goalkeeper Maddie Johnson had a career-high 13 saves in an 11-8 road win over Winthrop and has a team-high 34 total saves on the 2020 season.
- Wandelt leads the Titans in goals (12) and points (14), with junior Kamryn Corraro just behind with 11 goals and 13 points.
- Junior attacker Kristina Ellis adds 11 points (seven goals, four assists) for the Titans.
- Sophomore midfielder Elise Harder (23 draw controls) and junior Taylor Cantelon (22 DC) have combined for 45 of the 82 draw controls for the Titans.
- Senior defender Tegan McManus leads the team in caused turnovers (seven) through seven games.
- Wandelt ranks third all-time in points in Titan history (243), passing former Detroit Mercy standout Anna Eidem (234 points) last week in a six-goal game against Winthrop.
- The Titans have earned a share of the Southern Conference regular-season title in each year of women's lacrosse in the league and are 8-2 in the SoCon across two seasons.
- The red, white and blue were picked to finish in fourth place in the 2020 SoCon preseason coaches poll, voted on by the league's head coaches.
- Detroit Mercy is entering its 12th year as a women's lacrosse program overall and was the first Division I program in the state of Michigan.
- The Titans open Southern Conference play on Friday, March 27 at Wofford.

The Titans dropped a 20-9 road contest at Gardner-Webb on Sunday. Junior attacker
Kamryn Corraro and senior midfielder
Kaitlyn Wandelt both had four points for the Titans with Wandelt tallying her third-straight hat trick on the season and Corraro had two goals and two assists. The Titans trailed 9-3 at halftime and scored the first two goals of the second half, but Gardner-Webb then used a turn to take control of the second half and the contest.

Hannah Shrader had four saves in net for the Titans, while junior GK
Maddie Johnson added three saves. Sophomore midfielder
Elise Harder added two goals and Wandelt and junior midfielder
Taylor Cantelon both had three draw controls in the game for the Titans. Wandelt was 2-for-3 on free-position shots in the game.
Scouting Marquette:
- The Golden Eagles are 5-4 on the 2020 season and coming off a 16-14 loss to Ohio State at home on Saturday.
- Marquette has wins over Cincinnati (17-6), Canisius (18-11), Niagara (16-6), Fresno State (18-17) and Central Michigan (19-9).
- MU has yet to win a game on the road this season (0-3), but picked up a neutral site victory over Fresno State on Feb. 29.
- Carolin Steller leads the team with 35 points on 21 goals and 14 assists.
- Lydia Foust is the team leader in goals with 22 goals and ranks second on the team with 28 points.
- Seven players have more than 10 goals on the 2020 season and five players have better than 20 points for the Golden Eagles.
- Three Marquette players have more than 30 draw controls this season with Emily Cooper leading the team with 53 DC.
- Two goalkeepers have split time in net this season -- Jules Horning (42.3 SV%, 52 saves) and Sophia Leva (52.1 SV%, 49 saves).
