LONGWOOD, Fla. (3/8/2020) -- The University of Detroit Mercy softball team ended its 10-game spring break trip with a tough task having to face nationally-ranked Florida State as the Titans dropped a 16-0 decision to the Seminoles on Sunday.
Junior
Ellie Boteler and freshman
Reese Ruhlman kept up their hot hitting as each picked up a base knock in the contest, while freshman
Dana Vitale  had two walks in the game.
Senior
Liz Murphy started and struck out one batter before being relieved by junior
Regan Glenn.
In the 10-games down in Florida, Ruhlman led the team in hitting at .375 and five runs scored, while driving in a pair of runs. Senior
Jen Lorenz hit .304 with three doubles and two RBI and Boteler hit .290 with two homers, four doubles and seven RBI.
Murphy led the pitching staff with a 3.55 ERA throwing 43 1/3 innings and striking out 33 batters. Â
The Titans will now have almost two weeks to get ready for Horizon League play as they open the conference campaign at home against Green Bay with a single game on Mar. 20 and a doubleheader on Mar. 21.Â
