109 Titans Earn Horizon League Fall Academic Honor Roll Accolades

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (1/22/2021) -- The Horizon League announced the 2020 Fall Academic Honor Roll on Friday, with 109 University of Detroit Mercy student-athletes receiving honor roll accolades from the league office.

The 109 honorees are believed to be the most in the past 15-plus years and ranked seventh among the 12 Horizon League schools, despite the Titans not sponsoring several league sports.

A total of 1,461 student-athletes achieved academic honor roll distinction for the fall of 2020 semester with all 12 member institutions and 19 Horizon League sponsored sports represented. To receive honor roll accolades, student-athletes must meet three criteria in order to qualify:
  • Participation in at least one of the League's 19 sports during the most recent (or current) season.
  • Completion of three semesters (or four quarters, where applicable) as a full-time student at the same member institution.
  • A cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale).
Three Detroit Mercy programs led the Horizon League in academic honorees -- men's track and field/cross country (22), men's soccer (20) and softball (17).

The Titan men's track and field program had 22 honorees, which tied with Milwaukee for the most among league schools. The softball squad led all Horizon League softball teams in honorees with 17 of the 109 honorees in the sport. Detroit Mercy men's soccer led all Horizon League schools in honorees for the 13th-straight semester with 20 of the 132 recipients.

The women's golf team had seven members earn honor roll accolades, which was tied with Purdue Fort Wayne and only ranked behind Youngstown State's nine honorees. The Titan men's golf team had six student-athletes receive the academic honor.

The Titan women's soccer team had 16 honorees on its squad for the 2020 fall semester, while the women's track and field/cross country program saw 15 student-athletes receive the academic distinction. Six women's basketball student-athletes earned honor roll accolades, part of 83 overall in the sport.

Milwaukee led all Horizon League schools with 173 honorees, while women's track and field/cross country had the most recipients by sport with 220.
