CARMEL, Ind. (10/30/2021) -- Graduate senior
Thomas Mueller was ready to take home some hardware and he did just that as the veteran harrier earned Second Team All-Horizon League accolades for the first time in his career as the University of Detroit Mercy men's cross country team competed at the annual Horizon League cross country championships on Saturday.
The Titans took 10th overall with 256 points on the 8k Northview Church Course in Carmel, Indiana.
"Overall, it was a full cross country experience, where the course was as much of a challenge as our opponents," said Director of Track and Field and Cross Country
Guy Murray '89.
Mueller was among the top group throughout the race and ended up 13th in a time of 26:25. He had never placed in the top 20 at the league meet. The top 14 runners earn All-Horizon League with one-through seven first team and the next seven second team.
"Thomas ran a tough race battling for the All-League finish," said coach Murray. "A great honor for him. He has put in the miles, worked as hard as anyone, and is deserving of the spot on the All-HL team."
Junior
Oscar Hernandez was 66th overall in 28:18, while graduate senior
Oliver Daniel placed 77th in 28:41.
Sophomore
Kyle Foulk was the fourth Titan in finishing 85th in 28:57 and junior
John Burke crossed the line in 29:20 for 87th.
The Titans will now get ready for their second postseason event in the NCAA Great Lakes Regionals, held in Evansville, Indiana, on Nov. 12.
