INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (4/8/2021) -- A pair of University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer student-athletes earned Horizon League All-Freshman Team honors as the postseason awards and teams were announced on Thursday afternoon.

Titan freshman forward Tia Jokic (Windsor, Ont.) and freshman goalkeeper Marisa Silver (West Bloomfield, Mich.) were each voted to the 12-member women's soccer All-Freshman Team. The postseason awards and honors are voted on by the league's head coaches with the coaches not being able to vote for their own players.

Jokic was the only Titan to start in all nine matches during the 2021 spring campaign, scoring one goal for two points, while ranking third on the team with 14 total shots. Jokic was third on the squad and first among Titan forwards in minutes played (651). Jokic scored her first collegiate goal in a victory over Robert Morris on March 24, totaling five shots in the contest. Jokic had at least one shot in seven of nine matches for the Titans.

Silver started seven of the nine matches in net for the Titans during the 2021 spring season, recording 23 total saves and posting a save percentage of 63.9% and a goals against average of 1.79. Silver had a shutout in a 0-0 tie with IUPUI and sported a record of 2-4-1 overall during her rookie campaign. Silver had six saves in a game on two occasions during the season -- recording six saves each in home wins over Youngstown State and Robert Morris.
