DETROIT (10/7/2022) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's and women's fencing programs announced
Michael Ramlow as the 13th head coach in program history.
He replaces
Todd Dressell who retired after spending 23 years at the helm.
Ramlow fenced collegiately at Wayne State University from 2008-2012 where he compiled a 119-119 record in the Foil and a 29-33 career mark in the Epee. In his final season, Ramlow made it to the NCAA Championships where he finished 24th in the Epee after beginning the year competing with the Foil.
Following his collegiate career, Ramlow began working with the Renaissance Fencing Club in 2017 as an assistant Sabre coach working alongside Dressell.
Ramlow is a 20 year fencing veteran with five years of professional coaching experience. He is well versed in all three fencing disciplines and was a USA Fencing referee from 2021-2022.
"I am honored to be named the next head coach here at the University of Detroit Mercy," Ramlow said. "I have experience fencing against this program from my college career and they were always a challenging opponent and I hope to continue that."
More information on tryouts will be released in the near future.
