Irene Murua scored 11 second-half points to give her 15 for the game while grabbing eight rebounds and hitting 5-of-6 from the free throw line.

Imani McNeal chipped in with nine points with six rebounds while Hooper finished with eight points and seven boards. Junior

Georiga Southern (7-1) used a 2-3 Zone for most of the game with allowed Detroit Mercy (2-7) to get hot from behind the arc matching a season-best seven 3-pointers. The Titans also dished out a season-best 16 assists on 28 made field goals.
After both teams played even in the first half with GSU leading 40-39, the Eagles used an 11-0 run before Murua connected on a layup to pull the Titans within eight points, 59-51, entering the fourth quarter. For the frame, Georgia Southern outscored the Titans 20-12.
In the fourth quarter, Detroit Mercy flipped the script outscoring GSU 20-12 in the frame sparked by a 6-0 run down the stretch. After a GSU jumper, Murua added pair of free throws which pulled the Titans within two points, 70-68. The Eagles add another free throw to lead by three points at 71-68 with 31.9 seconds setting the stage for Hooper's game-tying 3-pointer to force overtime at 71-71.
In the extra frame, freshman
Amaya Burch hit the Titan's first field goal tying the game at 74-74 with 2:23 left. Both teams added points mainly from the charity stripe as Murua hit four straight free throws to pull Detroit Mercy within a point, 80-79, with 18 sections left. The Eagles missed two free throws but Murua was called for a foul after grabbing the rebound off the second miss which proved to be costly giving GSU another pair of opportunities with they split to go up 81-79 with 16 ticks left. The Eagles added another free throw after Burch missed a 3-pointer to close out the win.
Detroit Mercy continues non-conference play at Michigan State on Sunday, Dec. 17 at 3 p.m.
